Martha Stewart had an ‘expert" on to show her and an audience member how to fold a fitted sheets (Martha’s brand, of course). Martha had no trouble folding hers, which was surprising considering how much she was giving verbal jabs at the audience member for not following directions. That poor woman was so flustered. I felt so sorry for her. But she got a lovely parting gift – a set of Martha’s sheets.
I’ve never known anyone who could fold fitted sheets so they lay flat like Opal is showing. The way my Mom did it was to fold them so as to hide the gathered part on the inside. The surface of the folded sheet might have been smooth, but it was still a little lumpy.
squash it into a long wad, then roll it up and shove it into the cabinet. or if you’re a bachelor, it’s the only one you have anyway, so put it back on the mattress. duh.
Opal did it!!! Good for you. Wish I could do mine like that. But I will tell you this..next time I buy sheets..it will be two flat ones not a fitted one any more. Too big of mess when I do fold them. Martha Stewart buy flat sheets also. Not fitted ones.
I learned to fold a fitted sheet from the salesclerk in Bloomingdale’s Linens Department when I worked there in shipping in 1978. Mine never look as nice as Opal’s, but they look better than Earl’s. The salesclerk told me most people “roll them up and sit on them.” No doubt.

About 40 years ago a nice old lady in a laundromat showed me how to fold fitted sheets. I’ll always be grateful to her.

I knew I loved Earl for more than one reason. Diet Dr P is my poison of choice! Great laugh to start the day, Brian! :)
Kathe about 13 years ago
Well Earl, when Opal produces that Dr. P, I’d be wary of drinking it!

I’m in Earl’s camp on how to fold fitted sheets. Flat sheets, too, for that matter.

Could Opal record the folding technique for YouTube? I, for one, would like to know how this miracle occurs.
