if i take someone’s freedom by enslaving them, keeping them in a prison cell down in my basement, it is then morally wrong for the state to do the same thing to me? since it’s morally wrong to take someone’s freedom, i guess, it’s morally wrong for the state to do the same… abolish the prisons, people, liberal logic wins!
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” Isaiah 61:1
“To hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die,” Psalm 102:20
@Leo, no it is not morally wrong. Even the Bible outlines punishment for people that violate the laws. (No don’t start suggesting we enact some of those laws, they were for that time and that situation.) Let me ask the question, if we abolish prisons, what do we do with the people that rob you and hurt you? How dpi we prevent them from hurting you if we don’t put them in prison?
Oh, I see – it’s supposed to be “ironic”. How about the concept that some folks are so screwed up that they just need to have their chip taken off the table?
Those who murder forfeit their right to life. There are certainly cases where the death penalty is justified. It is offensive that Charles Manson is still alive.
But the high rate of proven false convictions is very disturbing. Beware of eye-witness identifications of strangers, of circumstantial evidence with no clear tie between the accused and the crime, of cops who will lie to clear a case, and of mad-dog prosecutors who will do anything to get elected.

If it’s morally wrong to kill, then Americans East of the Mississippi would be speaking German and West would be speaking Japanese.

Killing people to show that killing people is wrong, is wrong!
