What a great initial portrait of The Mole! And well-colored, too, like the rest of today’s strip.Looks like we are about to spend some time in the kayfabe world of pro wrestling….

A mix of new and old characters. I wonder how the two stories will connect.

If memory serves, Thunder Child was a British warship that went up against the Martian’s in “The War of the Worlds”. I believe it actually caused some damage to a Martian war machine before it was destroyed.If I’m wrong, please bear in mind that it’s been over 30 year since I read the book.

@brinrik:One point should be clarified — I believe that was a side project of Justin Hayward’s, apart from the rest of the Moody Blues. However, the song has been performed at Moody Blues concerts at times, usually between sets. You can see it on the DVD called “Lovely to See You”, a live recording made at the Greek Theater circa 2005.

The stories go so fast it’s hard to keep track of the various characters. That’s probably more like a real police department.

Does team Tracy have any plans to bring back Lispy Liz? I’d ask for Pucker Puss, but I think he was killed.

Woo Hoo – great to see Mole back.(Mind you, I’m too young to have read the classic tales of Mole, B-B Eyes, Mumbles and the other classic characters, which is what makes these appearances such a charge!)

Ken, you are probably right. Since the music is in the style of the Moody Blues I just guessed that they were the musicians but in my defense, the “Forever Autumn” song is on their greatest hits album.

This is very Gould-like – introducing new characters by showing them in their “lair”, so to speak, and showing how a particular quirk fits their name. What was particularly clever here was using two panels to tell us the full name of “Patty Cure”, who is in the process of getting a pedicure! Nicely done, team Tracy.

Wait a minute! Aren’t we going to tie up Son of Spike’s loose ends?

Lispy died of high blood pressure and Pucker Puss was killed in a shoot-out over a burning car, the last great Gould era chase.
