C’mon, I’ve heard some of you guys talk sweetly about your loved ones. I’m sure there are plenty of guys who are fine with saying “I love you”. My husband is one of them. He never understood the idea of being afraid to say “the L word”.
Funny, I really don’t picture Earl THAT closed off. I know he’s “typical” in many respects but this? Hmm. I wouldn’t think so. I hope the theme of this particular thread eventually rights itself and ends up funny.
A relative of mine can’t say “I love you” – just can’t. Not even to her kids. You can tell she does love certain people, but you have to get it from context clues.
A lot of people say I love you because they have the need to here it back and that was the purpose of them saying it in the first place. Selfish really.
I think people who have a hard time saying i love you, the words really mean something to them. Some people will say those words flippantly, to anyone & everyone. Some will automatically say “i love you too” when someone says it to them, but without feeling.

Similar to what I said yesterday, I’d say Earl is a typical male who usually don’t like to express their feelings.
There is a pattern developing here.

You know how I feel about you and I know how I feel about you, why you gotta make me say it?

Why not just say “I Love You Too”…..I mean you probably said it alot back in the day. My husband says it to me every day.

He could do like my husband and say it quickly, like it’s all one word, “loveyoutoo.”

Maybe she needs to show her love… many older women have no interest – just the fact he is there should be enough for Opal.
