Janis: Go ahead! See if you can tell! Is it the expensive wine, or the cheap stuff?
Arlo: Well, if "expensive" were thirty dollars a bottle, it would be one thing,
Arlo: ...but in a joint where "expensive" is six bucks, it gets tougher!
@Doctor ToonSame here in Kansas. Although if you’re close enough to the Missouri border, you can just go over there where they do sell stronger stuff in grocery stores.
North Dakota has “blue laws”. One of them mandates no stores can open before 12 on Sundays (even 24 hour ones). Most commercial (non-liquor) stores DO NOT sell liquour although more stores are applying for liquor licenses now. In California, liquor was sold just about everywhere, even at drug stores. The only law I remember was that 24 hr stores could NOT sell it between 2 and 6 am.

At the grocery store it’s $6 per bottle, at the restaurant it’s $6 per glass.

Like soda, the 2 liter is $1-2 at a store and a 16 oz glass at a restaurant is $2.50

The last caption should read, "But in a joint where “Cheap” is 30 bucks, it gets tougher! Haven’t seen place where expensive is $6.

Actually, Arlo and I are lucky we do not have refined palates. I don’t want to lust after $300 wine.

Alcohol is the biggest scam involving comestibles next to concession prices at movie theaters.

I can get a bottle of wine for 10 bucks or a box of wine for 10 bucks. Which is cheaper?

It is even worse for milk: the same price for two half pints in a restaurant as for a gallon in the grocery store – when the restaurant even has it.

ALL wine tastes putrid . . . as fermented grapes, it’s supposed to. The thing is – do you like to taste crap?

As an old hippie I am still a fan of Boone’s Farm what ever flavor it was.
