In the video Blackjack looks like Stanley Ipkiss from “The Mask”. Green skin tone, Pachuco hat and zoot suit to boot.

(Tom) Blackjack Ketchem, or more often written Black Jack Ketchum, was a real outlaw hanged (and accidentally decapitated) in 1901. My first thought, however, was, is this outlaw an ancestor of our Sam Catchem? (Spellings, especially of names, are notoriously variable.)Be that as it may, the current Blackjack is clearly a delightfully looney villain!

Normal skin tones on Sunday, but green on the U-Tube? Either Diet Smith needs to work on the color correction on those monitors or (perish forbid) the daily colorist needs to read Shane’s notes.

The horror writer (and my longtime friend) Jack Ketchum also took his nom-de-plume from the original Black Jack Ketchum. So … what is this guys “real” name?

Someone posted the other day that Blackjack looks like the Joker.I’m thinking he resembles The MASK.Which is another character obsessed with the 30’s.

Welcome back, WW! I, too, thought of Pershing when I first heard the name Blackjack, but I suppose for Pershing it was Black Jack. Still, it’d be interesting if Blackjack’s real name was Pershing.

New to Dick Tracy, and I’m really enjoying it! Glad I stumbled upon gocomics. I want to start reading previous Tracy stuff, but not sure where to start. I may get the first reprint book from IDW and go from there.

He reminds me of Ellis’ Captain Swing.
