Sadly, another case in which the long-believed religious nature of a holiday is side-stepped for the sake of uniformity among people. At least, Lizzie speaks from the heart…
Well by 1984’s principles, reality exists solely in the mind. Thusly, Liz could be correct.See, the joy of youth needs no Orwellian principles. It exists because a kid wills it to.
Such hypocrites, you claim that us Christians are idiots for telling our children what you perceive to be lies, and yet, what are you doing with your Easter bunny? Hmm, letting your kids believe in something which doesn’t exist…..again, the word Hypocrite comes to mind.
Oh and by the way, it’s “Ishtar”, not “Istar”.
Happy Easter! Believe as you wish, but as for me? I believe in Jesus! He is Risen! And nothing any of you will say to that concerns me in the least. Live your own life, and I’ll live mine. And if you want people like me to keep our opinions to ourselves, try a little “practice what you preach”. Can’t expect others to do what you refuse to…
Jesus is LORD!
P.S. Do a little religious research, you are likely to find that most religions of today stem out from the God of the Old Testament. Noah’s God. It is from one of Noah’s sons which “Ishtar” originates. Look up Semiramis – the wife of Nimrod.
Jesus IS the God of the Old Testament; Jesus, not God’s offspring, but God’s mortal Form.
“The only trouble with researching the fantasies surrounding religious holidays is, if it doesn’t destroy the illusion, it will at least remove a lot of the glitter.” A holiday that’s no more than fantasies and glitter isn’t worth the notice. As a Catholic Christian (yes, I’m one of Them), I celebrate holidays that are sober fact — like this one — with their own inner glow of joy and hope, no tinsel or glitter needed. Everything else is marketing…sad, but such is the world we’re living in.
People who complain about “preaching” are usually complaining about having an unflattering mirror held in front of them. Whose problem is that, really?.And why do you make the absurd leap from Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy to the Bible? None of them are in there, nor anything even remotely resembling them. If you have objections, at least have them make sense..Have a good weekend, in whatever way you find best.
Last Christmas there was a lot of news about atheists fighting the display of the various christian/jewish/moslem traditions. In Oregon, at the state capital, they strove to have a ‘Christmas’ display by any group who wanted to put one up.An atheist group put a sign that had a 0 with a slash through it.At the moment they showed this on the TV, my wife turned to me and asked, “Is nothing sacred?”Happy Easter everybody, whether you celebrate it or not.
“Why is it so hard for most people to accept the Bible for what it really is – a collection of fairy tales?”
Because it isn’t. There is so much archaeological evidence for the truth of the bible, that it’s easier to believe than not once you hear the evidence. Blind attacks based on your opinion instead of evidence demonstrate your deep faith in either “athiesm” or “Darwinism” – both of which require a lot more taken on faith that either Judaism or Christianity.
It’s too bad that faith becomes religion and the religonists seek to conquer others with it. Keep your faith, if you will, but don’t beat up others who don’t believe what you do. Faith is a personal thing, organized religion is a bully. "onward Chistian soliders, marching as to war . . " – a song I was taught as a child. But we should be striving to be tolerant of others beliefs, so that we can all celebrate and affirm our lives in our own ways.
happy easter everyone I think as long as you belive the sun dances are theres an easter bunny are whatever keep on beliveing it thats whats important here dreams do come true when you see the light that’ll clinch it God bless everyone
He is risen:Happy easter everybody.Wendy, i agree with what you said,i do not care what people say, i know that jesus is real and what the bible says came from god himself.
Just because the sun didn’t dance doesn’t mean that Jesus didn’t. I can imagine him stepping out of the cave and taking a big breath of fresh air and doing a little dance!
Easter should be called Resurrection Day. It’s a day to remember that there is an empty tomb in the world. It’s the one Jesus had been in after offering Himself on the cross to save us from our sins. Then He arose from the dead. This should be taught to all boys and girls while they go about with their egg hunts and nibble chocolate bunnies.
Wendy: I think you’ve clearly won today’s ABA award — “argument by blatant assertion.” Call us back when you have some evidence to back up your claims. Oh, and many of us don’t deal in the Easter Bunny either, whereas most Christians in the USA do.

All I know is that, once again, all I got was a bunch of black jelly beans. (Or the bunny needs some dietary advice.)

If you don’t wish to believe in the Bible, fine. Why is it so hard for some people to accept the Bible for what it really is – the truth.

Typical of those who hate people of faith. This kind of hate is the same as that of the fundamentalist islamists who are trying to destroy us.
