One owns a dog,turtle, hamster, parakeet, horse,etc. But a cat owns you.

Pets are companions; they are NOT toys. My husband and I are âthe helpâ to four cats and two dogs, and we wouldnât have it any other way. The love and affection they give us (yes, even the cats!) is priceless. We canât imagine life without our four-footed family members.

We all must teach our children pets are not toys. There is nothing more wonderful than seeing the bond between a child and his or her pet if the relationship is one of love and respect. Animals should not be given as âgiftsâ for Christmas, Easter or any other occasion. Having a pet is not a frivolity but a responsibility to be taken seriously.
