Well the sign did show a dear up ahead

In panel 3, there’s no sign of the wheel. Without a seatbelt or airbag, he evidently was thrown clear. Good thing, as otherwise he would have been at the bottom of the cliff in flames.

Remember the “DIP IN ROAD” ? Probably politically incorrect today.
