I think I could probably find a whole bunch of people willing to start a fan club for Lehrer, based on that last contribution. Ah, college. Sometimes you make me sad on others’ behalfs.
“I hold your hand in mine, dear,I brush it, to my lips!I take a healthy bite from Your dainty, fingertips. My joy would be complete, dearIf you were only here! But still I keep you hand asA precious, souvenir!”
No fella could ignore, the little girl next door,She sure looked sweet in her first evening gown…Now there’s a charge for what she used to give for free,In my home town.
The Tom Lehrer Collection is well worth buying, if only to get his songs from The Electric Company. I was fortunate enough to see Tomfoolery in Boston, which was way better than the Broadway version, because Lehrer himself helped orchestrate and guide the production. It was awesome!
Oh so close, but not quite right according to this source. Mind you, I’d prefer it if Tom Lehrer had been the original inventor. His recipe certainly sounds easier.
A couple of years ago, on The Big Bang Theory, one of the characters got drunk and sang Tom Lehrer’s “The Elements” – one of my favorite Lehrer songs right behind “The Vatican Rag.”
“Most books can be indecent books, but recent books are bolderThough filth, I’m glad to say, is in the eye of the beholder,For when correctly viewed, anything is lewd,I can tell you things about Peter Pan, and the Wizard of Oz, there’s a dirty old man!”

“Mr. Lehrer’s muse is not fettered by such inhibiting factors as taste.” How can you not love a performer who garners such reviews as that?
