Rumor has it that the drinks are watered down, the service is bad and the food basically inedible. Business couldn’t be better with the new advertising campaign.

not quite right – definition of utopia from Webster’s 1: an imaginary and indefinitely remote place2often capitalized : a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions3: an impractical scheme for social improvement

Really Wiley? This is one of the most political strips ever! The very idea of utopia is about as anti-individual as you can get, the perfect controlled society, top-down government, no imperfections allowed. Now Mr. Political Commentary promotes utopia? Now THAT’s a joke!

The word comes from the Greek: οὐ (“not”) and τόπος (“place”) and means “no place”. The English homophone eutopia, derived from the Greek εὖ (“good” or “well”) and τόπος (“place”), means “good place”. This, due to the identical pronunciation of “utopia” and “eutopia”, gives rise to a double meaning.

This is one bar that would make a killing IF it could keep out those individuals who insist on monopolizing the conversation and inject into, even the most harmless dialogue, a political agenda. Just look at how quickly Fairportfan2,gmartin997, and Brian Ransom pushed their agenda today.

As a bar “bouncer,” my brother would tend to disagree. Arguments over, and with, women cause more barroom brawls than politics and religion combined.

And that’s why there will never be a political Utopia.Group 1 says that We need laws to prevent people from doing Icky Stuff.Group 2 says that We need laws to prevent Them from preventing us from doing Icky Stuff That Doesn’t Hurt Anybody.Group 3 says “If you guys would just mind your own business we wouldn’t need all those laws.”And Group 4 says “People are dumb.”

sonnygreen, thank you for noticing….As you can see, it’s not that we don’t have passionate opinions, we do. We just prefer to avoid arguing about it, if we can help it. You’ll get to know who the trolls are around here eventually….But this strip is way too important to us to waste our, or Wiley’s time with that crap…enjoy…

“Discourse”, means “conversation”. The election year special is shout downs and slander, not “conversation”. Maybe some honest discourse WOULD be good. It would definitely be different.

I once wrote for a satiric bi-monthly newspaper, whose banner read " Free And Worth Every Penny It ". When asked where I got my ideas for my comic columns came from, I’d honestly tell them, I got more laughs from a city council meeting than the funny papers.

“No political discourse allowed” should be a rule on the Non Sequitur portion of GoComics. But then it is free speech; you get what you pay for.

It is difficult to mix alcohol with anything requiring thought. Ordinary people can be controlled by the diet of food, sex, and…intoxication. Not much else is important to the common folkers.

The more viable solution would be to eliminate career politicians and make holding office like jury duty.
