Back in 1969 I worked in the produce section at Krogers…There were spray hoses that wee had to spray the vegetables with every once in a while..by hand! That’s how bad is was back in those days….times were tough…we also had to punch keys on the cash register for everything! It was barbaric….the chicks were just as cute though…..

Remind me never to shop for produce at that grocery store. Ew.

This is new to Pig? Wow, this has been in supermarkets fot at least the past twenty years to my knowledge.

I work in the produce section at our local store. Those timed sprayers are funny when someone isn’t expecting it. I imagine Pig laying on a bed of lettuce surrounded by green veggies. Oh wait, that was dinner last night.

Actually, the sprinklers are there to make the produce look pretty…and rot faster, so you have to go back to the store more often.

I wondered how that bristle hair got in my lettuce….

The sprayers are to keep the produce fresh while still in the store. Then you bring the sodden produce home, and unless you dry the produce before putting it away (or have a kitchen equipped with a spray and drain system like is found in the grocery store), you’re likely to find the produce going bad by the next day. Thanks, grocery store owners!

My local Albertson’s has the thunder thing too, though it doesn’t play that song

I have actually seen people washing their faces and hands in the produce sprays…

Someone at work (not sure if an employee or customer) moved one of the produce sprayers so that when it sprayed, it sprayed out to the customers and not on the produce. Was hysterical but not very “customer friendly”. Jeez they push that concept alot at our store.

The thunder is to warn those with their hands (or heads) in that part of the produce section. I would actually like that in my produce department. Though I laugh to myself everytime someone gets an unexpected shower. I’m an evil produce manager.

Not too smart, but at least he wasn’t washing his car!
