Pig: Hey, Rat, I'm home! Rat: Where you been? Pig: Grocery store... Did you know they have sprayers now that go off in produce section? Rat: Yeah. THey're for keeping produce from wilting. Pig: That's what they're for? Rat: Yeah. Why? Pig: No reason.
Back in 1969 I worked in the produce section at KrogersâŠThere were spray hoses that wee had to spray the vegetables with every once in a while..by hand! Thatâs how bad is was back in those daysâŠ.times were toughâŠwe also had to punch keys on the cash register for everything! It was barbaricâŠ.the chicks were just as cute thoughâŠ..
I work in the produce section at our local store. Those timed sprayers are funny when someone isnât expecting it. I imagine Pig laying on a bed of lettuce surrounded by green veggies. Oh wait, that was dinner last night.
The sprayers are to keep the produce fresh while still in the store. Then you bring the sodden produce home, and unless you dry the produce before putting it away (or have a kitchen equipped with a spray and drain system like is found in the grocery store), youâre likely to find the produce going bad by the next day. Thanks, grocery store owners!
Someone at work (not sure if an employee or customer) moved one of the produce sprayers so that when it sprayed, it sprayed out to the customers and not on the produce. Was hysterical but not very âcustomer friendlyâ. Jeez they push that concept alot at our store.
The thunder is to warn those with their hands (or heads) in that part of the produce section. I would actually like that in my produce department. Though I laugh to myself everytime someone gets an unexpected shower. Iâm an evil produce manager.

Actually, the sprinklers are there to make the produce look prettyâŠand rot faster, so you have to go back to the store more often.
