Hobbes is correct. You can also tell the quality of a writer by the quality of his quills.

The smock looks a whole lot larger on Hobbes whenever another person walks into the room.

In the last panel, Calvin’s face looks like one of his snowmen, with hair and an ear added.

Calvin is the teacher today, and Hobbes is the “Calvin” who isn’t paying attention in class, because his mind is on more interesting things. Miss Wormwood has often wondered what on earth is wrong with Calvin.

Anyone old enuff to remember Steve Allen may recall he often gsve a ‘bird cry’ of “smock-smock”.

Certain words are just fun coming out of your mouth! We used to have a news lady named Anita Padia and I used to say her name all the time because it made my mouth happy!!

I never met a good artist with a clean smock . . . that’s okay though Hobbes, you still look good.

I wonder why this makes me think of the MontyPyton skit, SPAM SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM.

Oh, now I know.

They say a good woikman never blames his tools. But the bum I had helping me was named Willard Mullen!

I love saying the word “smock” also! “Ukelele” too! “Ukelele” doesn’t pop out quite like smock, but whenever I have to come up with a random word, it’s always “ukelele”. Pardon me, I must go strum on my ukelele…

I got to meet Steve Allen and had him autograph his book, “Dumbth” with "To Jim, Schmock, schmock! Steve Allen.We got our picture in the paper, my brother, dad and myself with Steve. We never missed Steve’s show in the 60’s.

Hobbes is just getting tuned up for his first onstage aria in “De Bello Smoko” by Festorio Panzini…..

Just call him Mr. Smock.

@Dogsniff: Yes, that’s correct. That was in Germany at the end of World War II. He wasn’t ordered to toss it, because he was the leader. He changed his mind when he saw the dog.

I can relate to Hobbes in this strip disturbingly well. :D
