Good Morning and HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!Well it looks like we get the Davey Mylar motive strip today. We now know why Davey is doing what he is doing. I am curious to see how Blaze responds to it.
Why is there an “A” on his belt buckle in the June 16, 2011 strip? Mylar was thinner back then and he is carrying the “Saturn Planet Comics” briefcase, but somehow the whole story doesn’t add up.
Perhaps Panda truly believes that Davey is mr Crime’s nephew. This confession doesn’t seem like a bright move on Davey’s part but I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. Looks can be deceiving.
If Panda believed Mylar was Mr. Crime’s nephew, it wouldn’t be too difficult to find out who his uncle really is. Mylar did ask Blaze for a date the first time she made a delivery so he’s had the hots for her all along.
Look at the amount of words we have to contend with today in Davey’s explanation. It’s like reading a novel! This strip is GREAT! Would there have been that much dialogue under Locher’s tenure? I doubt it.
I wonder how Davey’s been explaining the money to his mom. I just reviewed some of the past strips. If Panda was telling the truth back on 4/29, he doesn’t know that Davey is Mr Crime.
So what happens next? Does Blaze tell Panda the truth? Do they toss Davey to the vine? Does Davey toss Blaze to the vine? And what about Kassie and Mumbles and Little Fa- I mean, Leonard?I just hope we learn why Teevo went to work for Mr. Crime!
Okay, so it wasn’t a double-bluff. Davey is Mr. Crime. And he told Blaze to impress her. This may be a major mistake, laying his cards on the table to impress a woman. A woman who has doubts about the organization, on top of that. Should be interesting reading the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait!
Not much more to add, great work both story, art and coloring. Almost every story thus far has been building to this ending. Thanks to the team for caring so much about the history of the strip.
Love the shocked expression on Blaze’s face in the first story-panel. She finally managed to close her mouth by the last panel. Either she becomes Davey’s confidante and “moll” now, or one of them will die soon! Too much is out in the open for this to remain a mere “employer-employee” relationship. Remember, Blaze is an assassin, a hit-woman by profession!
More thoughts – Usually, the crooks in Dick Tracy are just plain bad – at least the big shots. George Alpha, Odds Zon – even Big Boy way back at the beginning. Here we get a glimpse into motive, which is making Davey somewhat sympathetic. But, he HAS, as you all have pointed out, gone very far, with murder and drugs and who knows what else.Tracy would say that it just doesn’t pay to get started on a life of crime. Tracy would be right.

And I can’t believe Panda doesn’t know. He has the money delivered there.

In the panel where he’s picking up the just released Panda, is his mask Don Rickles, or Froggy the Gremlin???

Could Panda run the operation without Mr Crime’s documents? Has he learned enough of the ropes? What is the barracuda’s feeding schedule?
