Fifth/Third Bank has always sounded funny to me. Improper fraction? I like decimals in enumerating my finances. Makes more cents to me, thank you…

Come over to northern Europe. Rain, cold, rain, mild and rain, cold and rain. You can run as much as you want.

Old Kent Bank bought East Lansing State Bank, but then Old Kent was bought by Fifth Third or somebody. While they cycle, our local banks disappear to huge comglomerates.

Fifth/Third Bank is named after the street corner where the corporate headquarters are.

I love the European cycling sponsor: Rabobank. Sort of like the old book title “Steal This Book.”

Re: Fifth Third Bank.Short version: Fifth National Bank and Third National Bank merged. Fifth Bank was larger, so its name went first. The Straight DopeThere’s also a story that it was named this way to avoid references to a fifth of booze. WikipediaPersonally, I believe the size story. (I don’t bank at Fifth Third, but my parents do.)

@Kingstonave— I read that as “Rabid Bank,” not “Rob-a-bank.”

@Matthew Davis someone is too hot to drink. Her squeeze on the water bottle sends the contents flying over her head.

I played basketball outdoors two weeks ago when it hit 100. Almost fainted several times. Thankfully I had a liter of water, and went through it in about 15 minutes! Don’t know what I was thinking but I’ll never do it again haha.

luvemx: When there is a buyout, the liabilities, as well as the assets, go to the buyer. We got one of those no-charges deal when a bank started in Dallas, and kept our account through five name changes. As a result, we have a fee-free account at Wells Fargo – but we keep just enough in it for checking so we don’t give them any more of our money to work their criminal activities such as stealing peoples’ houses.

Cantankerous Coot: The only way to go.

I miss Old Kent, I was there for years. My branch got sold to Chemical, and they were rather inept.
