Waiting for AAA is surprisingly like “Waiting for Godot”.

The horse is OK, he’s just listening for the Indians pursuing them. (Rider went deaf from overuse of I-Pod).

Click-to-enlarge image available from here or from the only work by this artist to, so far, appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.Farmer with Broken Down Horse is privately owned, as far as I can tell, as part of the Taragoni Collection in Genoa, Italy. I could find no other information about it, or the collection, just references to how important a collection it is. Perhaps someone, who actually knows something about art, knows about the collection, since others only seem to have to reference it rather than describe it. I guess my frustration is showing. This different coloration image has a different title. This has a shorter title. The artist’s Wikipedia page (doesn’t mention Taragoni or Genoa) and collection (more under Subcategories).I like the farmer’s raised eyebrows (implying a total feeling of disgust, sort of mine at the moment). I wonder who he’s looking at.

Shouldn’t he be waiting for the IHA, not the AAA?

I would imagine this is of the genre of those depression era paintings done by public subsidy. I remember seeing many of slum buildings in the inner city. He is trying to work the horse but can’t afford to feed it.

You can lead a horse to water but not when the creek’s dry.

My first thought was western USA during the depression. Maybe the artist was traveling overseas during that time. My comment is pretty much the same as DAZZ’s….USA in the ’30’s.

this picture is sad almost beyond words. They may have been walking a long ways to get to that dried up gully and found only sand and dried up mud. Poor horse must have been so thirsty. and probably the only horse he had. He looks completely forlorn, rain coming, but too late.
