@tsull2121In regards to yesterdays comment about Lizz looking like Fritz Ann. I have it on good authority that Lizz’s hair is growing out. It should be noticeably longer in the near future.
I was surprised to see that Lizz remained a blonde well into the 60’s (of course, aside from her undercover assignment in Collins’ Art Dekko storyline). Had always thought that was strictly her initial 50’s look. Lizz as brunette timed w/ Moon Maid’s prominent role in the strip circa early-mid 60’s. I guess to avoid confusion ’tween the (2) female characters?
She has good reason to hold a grudge. Tracy was involved/responsible for the death of Flattop as well as her two children. It seems that Stiletta and Flattop’s hands are African-American.
So, when they first met, she only looked like Flattop a little bit, perhaps the overall shape of her face. But when they split up, she changed her hair style to look specifically like the man she was leaving. There is probably some psychological reason for that.
Can anyone figure out what Flattop is holding in his right hand in that photo? I thought at first it might be a sword, but, I just came from watching some of the Olympic fencing on You Tube.
I posted a comment just a few minutes ago, and it disappeared. Joe Staton is a real craftman – look at the way he made Stilleta look younger and sweeter in the photo, as compared to the way she looks now. Although, if IGoPogo4 is correct, what was a young, sweet teenager doing snuggling up to a man with a tommy-gun? More psychology there, I suppose.
Agreed, the 2 children mentioned earlier would have been Flattop Jr. and Angeltop. But if what Frizzletop is relating to Pat Patton is correct, her “cousin,” mentioned earlier would have been Flattop. This was never mentioned in 1942 with her first appearance by Gould because Flattop never showed up until 1944. Seems a bit of a stretch to me.
Lizz made her debute in the late fall of 1955 as a night club photographer and was blonde. The case then concerned a criminal named Oodles a friend of Lizz’s boss another crook named Nothing Yohanson. Tracy asked for Lizz’s help and police work has been her thing ever since. Yes the two children Flattop sired were Flattop Jr, and Angel.
Will I get back on schedule by fall! I hope so! I always liked the way the character’s names related to their appearance or actions in DT. (Just like VistaBill).
Despite the need for some suspension of disbelief in the back story, this looks like a really good villain(ess). Here’s hoping you can finagle things like you did with the Mr. Crime arc that will avoid this 3-4 week truncation that seems to be imposed. This eoisode seems like it needs to breathe a little. Good work guys
Just a note from Joe and I. Since the idea of a secondary story running during current adventures worked well with Mr Crime, we’ll be doing that from now on. In fact this Wednesday and Thursday our second plotline begins with a bang.Tracy and Stiletta will take the day off.
I don’t know. I think there are some girls that would find hanging off of this guy attractive, even with the Tommy gun. There was some prestige in being a gangster moll. But then, there was quite a bit of danger in it as well. Stilletta may have liked both, and it looks as if she still does.
So Liz’s hair color changed….lots of women dye their hair from time to time so it’s no biggie. What to me is more of a stretch is a babe like Stiletta hooking up with Flattop to begin with…..must be that ’ol “bad boy” appeal at work, huh? Lol……
7:50pm nad i get the #33 spot! lol! i noticed the miscoloration of stiletta today also.. her skin tone seemed a bit too dark to me. i originally thought flattop was wearing gloves but looking back i can see the error. stiletta looks younger in the second panel PROBABLY because of the ponytail and the smile… she look VERY young in the pic, tho flattop looks teh same as i have always seen him. on a somewhat off note, i am going to wildwood nj for the day tomorrow and returning wednesday so i may not be able to see the strips. TAKE CARE!Timmy!
I have no problem with the idea of Frizzletop being a distant relative of Flattop. In fact, I’m glad Mike and Joe came up with it, just because it gave them a chance to bring Frizz and her husband into the story. (What can I say? I love the way they bring back past characters!)Oh, one last thing – I’m glad Stiletta ‘s name isn’t “Something-or-other-top,” and that the gimmick is just for family.

Mistress of Knives! So I had surmised. Love that Berlin poster!

The circus chose their “poster girl” well. She’s both cute, and deadly!

Who would have thought Flattop had love for anyone but himself? Maybe he considered her just another deadly little accessory for his crimes.

Gripe time & narrative motif. “Guest star” shows up & explains everything. No police work required. Just had this w/ LittleFace.

Who is the cop behind Patton in the first panel? Particularly well-drawn face.
