Flattop’s face has always amused me. His mouth is usually drawn like he is trying to suck a watermelon through a straw! /// Also, I’d like to make a couple of comments about Stilleta. Flattop was associated with Pruneface when he was working for the Axis Powers during WW2. Maybe Stilleta was one of the enemy. Her brown skin and what appear to be Almond shaped eyes hint that she could possibly be of Japanese descent. Maybe that is how she met and married Flattop?
I’m just wondering: why are we resurrecting all of these villains from the past or their relatives? I know Joe & Mike can come up with their own but it looks desperate.
On Sunday, Sam talked about Tracy being missing but today, it seems like Sam has just discovered it. It felt like they weren’t doing much about the kidnapping. I think it has more to do with Team Tracy having to produce Sundays on a different schedule than the dailies.
And so it begins. While these criminals have grand plans, they NEVER get the job done. Too much showboating and monologuing. Just inject him with dopamine and be done with it! lol
Really enjoying this story!I love the way Team Tracy brings back past characters, and links new ones to the established Tracyverse. It gives you the feeling that they’re all living their lives out there in the city, and not just popping into existance for one story, and then disappearing.(Like the way Pouch and Wendy Wichel keep turning up.)Here’s hoping we’ll see more of Frizzletop, Leonard (formerly Little Face), and Vitamin Flintheart!
Marvee,.Re your question of Sunday, 29 July:.“Would buckshot be the usual ammo in a situation like this? I’m thinking it was meant to be nonlethal so they could carryout a long painfula end well aware of who and why.”.The buckshot was fired by Panda. .A double aught buck round contains seven to nine pellets, each pellet roughly the diameter of a medium calibre handgun round (i.e. a bit wider than a .32, a bit smaller than a .38 or a 9mm). .The spread on a double aught buckshot round can be controlled to some degree, which is to say you can roughly estimate how wide the pellets will spread depending on how the shotgun’s choke is set. But the exact pattern of the spread can never be predicted, so, unlike a slug, it can’t be controlled absolutely..Tracy’s Kevlar vest absorbed most of the round fired at him by Panda, but one pellet travelled up to an unprotected part of the shoulder. This means Tracy has sustained a wound that is equivalent to being hit by one medium caliber pistol bullet. Which is to say, it’s capable , even without its seven or eight brothers, of inflicting a lot of damage, up to and including fatal damage..I’ve been out-of-town for a family occasion for about a week, and have, consequently, fallen behind in my correspondence.
@Mdstudio:The way I read Sam’s remarks, it seems to me that, after Sunday, he’s been making the rounds of ALL the area hospitals, trying to locate Tracy. In other words, he knows something is wrong, and he’s been on the job trying to figure out what happened.
don’t remember any Pruneface/ flattop connection, and so far even with odd back stories, your stuff on the old villains does skew new. Looking forward to a new bad guy, and some interweaving stories. workin’ around the man
I am love love loving this story. Really intrigued by Stiletta, a truly evil but quirky character. And the artwork is amazing. Seriously, it’s been more than 40 years since I enjoyed Dick Tracy this much. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
‘ODD SPOTS’ - on COLOR TOPS . . .Interestingly, the colorist for Comics Kingdom has Frizzletop with BROWN Hair today, and here they made her a BLONDE.As most of us recall she was SILVER or WHITE Haired in her earlier (Gould) 1942 - appearance

I wonder if the mention of their two kids will figure into this story or maybe a future one.

On the Yahoo Dick Tracy site Mike has hinted that a new sub plot would start this week in this story. Watch for Wednesday and Thursday.

Now if we’re lucky, the hijacked ambulance will have a Lo-Jack thingie for easy tracing.
On the other hand, as team Tracy are giving us competent bad guys (YAY!), it’s probably been at the very least disconnected…

Perhaps DaJellyBelly is thinking not of Flattop, but of the one-time-only shot of Pruneface and THE BROW in cahoots from the last panel of10-29-2011.
