Tiger went for a 100 yard drive but upon reflection, he probably should’ve used a wedge…..

Hugh, I think he has definitely driven a wedge somewhere.

That’s mighty topical for GT - must’ve figured it was too good to pass up. I wonder what celebrity/punchline he originally had programmed for that slot.

I still don’t get it. Maybe I don’t know enough about golf, ‘cause I sure have read several times about the list of (denied, non-) mistresses in the newspapers several times now.

I too thought it was James Woods. But I didn’t give it much thought, ‘cause I’m so used to missing references in Doonesbury ‘cause I don’t live in the US so I can’t follow the US news closely enough…

Just goes to show that if you’re famous enough you can get laid by lots of people you’ve never even met.

what’s SHE sobbing about?—she’s hot; she is about to become a very , very , very wealthy divorcee ….. and there are plenty of fish, probably not with a Tiger’s prowess at golf, in the sea……..oh, yeh…..she was in LOVVVVVE!…..well, she’ll get over it

Jesus nighthawks, As beautiful as she is, and the money she will walk away with is Big. But she was still Serially betrayed by someone she THOUGHT she could trust. to fund out that he was dragging Waffle House waitresses back to his house and giving her the high hard one IN HER HOME, has to sting.

Who is SHE who’s sobbing? Toggle said “Mr. Woods” in the strip, but since I’ve tuned out EVERY news reference to Tiger Woods after the revelation about his affairs, I may have missed a TV interview in which his wife cried. In my opinion, the way this whole thing should be reported is that Tiger Woods is a philanderer, and the women he was with are whores. Woods is wrong for cheating on his wife, but the women involved had to know that he is married, and it takes two to do that dance.

It’s obviously James Woods and the sob is for the death of his brother. He just settled the lawsuit over it on December 1.

What would the song “Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There is a Season)” have to do with Tiger Woods?

Color me naive, perhaps, but I really can’t imagine Trudeau doing something so crass as using James Woods’ sorrow for his brother in the strip. And although the lawsuit was just settled, the death was in 2006 - sorrow has no timetable, true, but the “too soon?” doesn’t ring quite true for it to be JW rather than TW, IMHO.

fwiw, when I read it I thought of James Woods as well, considering the Tiger situation is a bit recent for comic strip deadlines.

But darned if I can figure out the reference, to James or Tiger.

I think it’s supposed to be James Woods. (turn, turn, turn reference) Too soon for a Tiger in the strip.

I’m reading this strip beyond the fourteen day block so I don’t know what came before, but I assume they are recording celebrity GPS voices. Thus, Tiger is recording directional commands for the GPS unit, but as noted above by someone else, it’s too soon for auto-related actions on his part.
