Thatâs mighty topical for GT - mustâve figured it was too good to pass up. I wonder what celebrity/punchline he originally had programmed for that slot.
I still donât get it. Maybe I donât know enough about golf, âcause I sure have read several times about the list of (denied, non-) mistresses in the newspapers several times now.
I too thought it was James Woods. But I didnât give it much thought, âcause Iâm so used to missing references in Doonesbury âcause I donât live in the US so I canât follow the US news closely enoughâŚ
whatâs SHE sobbing about?âsheâs hot; she is about to become a very , very , very wealthy divorcee âŚ.. and there are plenty of fish, probably not with a Tigerâs prowess at golf, in the seaâŚâŚ..oh, yehâŚ..she was in LOVVVVVE!âŚ..well, sheâll get over it
Jesus nighthawks, As beautiful as she is, and the money she will walk away with is Big. But she was still Serially betrayed by someone she THOUGHT she could trust. to fund out that he was dragging Waffle House waitresses back to his house and giving her the high hard one IN HER HOME, has to sting.
Who is SHE whoâs sobbing? Toggle said âMr. Woodsâ in the strip, but since Iâve tuned out EVERY news reference to Tiger Woods after the revelation about his affairs, I may have missed a TV interview in which his wife cried. In my opinion, the way this whole thing should be reported is that Tiger Woods is a philanderer, and the women he was with are whores. Woods is wrong for cheating on his wife, but the women involved had to know that he is married, and it takes two to do that dance.
Color me naive, perhaps, but I really canât imagine Trudeau doing something so crass as using James Woodsâ sorrow for his brother in the strip. And although the lawsuit was just settled, the death was in 2006 - sorrow has no timetable, true, but the âtoo soon?â doesnât ring quite true for it to be JW rather than TW, IMHO.
DD - i believe the reference is to Tiger, and how he juuuuust miiiiight have some negative emotional baggage attached to ANYTHING auto-related at this particular point in timeâŚ.
Iâm reading this strip beyond the fourteen day block so I donât know what came before, but I assume they are recording celebrity GPS voices. Thus, Tiger is recording directional commands for the GPS unit, but as noted above by someone else, itâs too soon for auto-related actions on his part.

A very short drive from being the man of Iron to the man of IronyâŚ

Tiger went for a 100 yard drive but upon reflection, he probably shouldâve used a wedgeâŚ..
lippone about 15 years ago
Hugh, I think he has definitely driven a wedge somewhere.

Just goes to show that if youâre famous enough you can get laid by lots of people youâve never even met.

Itâs obviously James Woods and the sob is for the death of his brother. He just settled the lawsuit over it on December 1.
What would the song âTurn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There is a Season)â have to do with Tiger Woods?

And how is his racial heritage relevant?
Dirty Dragon about 15 years ago
fwiw, when I read it I thought of James Woods as well, considering the Tiger situation is a bit recent for comic strip deadlines.
But darned if I can figure out the reference, to James or Tiger.

I think itâs supposed to be James Woods. (turn, turn, turn reference) Too soon for a Tiger in the strip.
