Now we’ve got the tie-in. Themesong is one of the victims in Phishface’s phishing racket. It will be interesting to see how the MCU tackles electronic crime. Go, Tracy (and get your arm out of that sling soon)!
It was her father Roach, killed by Shoulders.Themesong has never heard of phishing and web scams? Bet she’s just arrived from the forties using a time machine!
Very nice detail of Tess’ photograph on Tracy’s desk. And Themesong looks just like an adult version of her little girl character, also very nice artwork!
One detail that would have been cool if Mike had thought of it. . . Since Themesong has never heard of “phishing”, when Tracy mentioned it, she would have no way of knowing about the peculiar spelling. She would have naturally thought of “fishing”. . . it would have been clever if Mike had spelled it “fishing” in Themesong’s word balloon. Why IS it spelled weird when referring to the scam? Does anyone know?
The earliest form of “hacking” was by hacking in to phone lines before the Internet existed. It was call “phreaking”, with the "f’ replaced by a “ph” for "ph"one. The earliest attempts to “phish” someones on line accounts were attempts to sell people’s OAL accounts in the mid 90s. Again these were “dial up” phone accounts.
The first use of the word “phishing” was in a USERNET posting January of 1996, by someone who suggested the used of the word “phishing” to replace “phreaking” for hacking into people’s accounts.
The word quickly caught on and has been around since.
So the “ph” is a tribute to the "ph"one line origin of the Internet and hacking.
A phishing technique was described in detail in 1987, and (according to its creator) the first recorded use of the term “phishing” was made in 1995. The term is a variant of fishing, probably influenced by phreaking, and alludes to “baits” used in hopes that the potential victim will “bite” by clicking a malicious link or opening a malicious attachment, in which case their financial information and passwords may then be stolen
ME OLD MAN?!? Really (sigh).Oh well, But REALLY good news that the Tribune un-decided on the Dick Tracy front..Even though the Dick Tracy newspaper comic strip is printed in only a few dozen papers; it has been SAVED from the same fate that marked the end of Brenda Starr and Annie (cancelled TRIBUNE comic strips), for now..Thank You Tribune for sparing our struggling strip!!!.Just like the baseball player who takes pride in his hitting, even though he is striking out. Keep swinging slugger! You are getting better with each and every outing..That is everything, but ‘ME OLD MAN’ (———oh, boy———)

Always the tough little girl in her debut. Our team has continued that theme (so to speak).

Love Themesong – performing, she’s like one of Disney’s tweenage superstars, but off stage, she talks like Bugs Bunny!
