Kinda depends on the bug, I think. But drowned in sufficient quantities of ketchup/catsup, most could be tolerated. They are a valuable source of protein and other stuff….
In order to qualify as U.S. No. 1 Grade, the commodities listed below cannot exceed the following limits of contamination:Ketchup — 30 fruit fly eggs per 100 gramsCanned corn — 2 insect larvae per 100 gramsBlueberries — 2 maggots per 100 berriesPeanut butter — 50 insect fragments per 100 gramsCurry powder — 100 insect fragments per 100 gramsWheat — 1% of grains infestedSesame seed — 5% of seeds infestedCoffee — 10% of beans infested
In some countries, people eat bugs because the bugs are more plentiful and have a higher protein content. I watch this show called “Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern” and he showed how they prepare the bugs for eating.
killing animals is “murderous”? that’s your opinion. fact is humans have been eating animals for hundreds of thousands of years, that’s natural for our species. not eating animals risks malnutrition, except in technologically advanced countries. where, for example, the vitamin B12 in your soy milk comes from yeast or mushrooms feeding on animal feces. yum yum, always need that animal goodness

I can neither tolerate ketchup or the bug.

Enough ketchup on stuff makes everything a gourmet treat. Not enough to kill the taste of fried reep, though.

Us bikers eat bugs regularly. Small price to pay since there really isn’t that much flavor.

My Korean Sunday school kids would catch cicadas at recess, pull off their wings, and eat them whole. It was a treat!

. . . it’s not murder . . .the animals were tried before a jury of their peers, found guilty, then executed according to the Law of the Land
