As long as folks are reminiscing, I saw color TV in an area where reception was poor, even with an aerial over the house. The color made the picture worse than B/W. As a kid I didn’t perceive that reception and picture quality would be better in urban areas. So I thought this color thing would be a dying fad.
My grandson, when small, refused to watch anything on T.V. like old movies that were in black and white because he thought that " they were for fake ".
My aunt won a color TV in a local contest, back when color TV was brand new. Huge thing, about 5 feet high and three feet wide, with a 9" round CRT in the middle. Only thing was that none of the local stations broadcast in color until years later. We wondered why the picture had no color…
I had a family member who did that. The plastic was 3 different colors, Red at the top, clear in the middle and green at the bottom. turned my head sideways and it was like watching TV through the Italian flag.

I remember our first color TV. I really dug that NBC peacock.

Our first color TV didn’t help much in the way of that test pattern on PBS. In those days they only started broadcasting around 11 AM.

We were poor, didn’t get color tv til it had been out for awhile. First program I saw was “Star Trek”. Thought it was incredibly beautiful.

We were just talking about this You can tell someone’s age bracket when they advertise a “color TV” in craigslist.

For once, no one’s complaining that these older rerun strips are in black and white.

We’d go to friends’ houses to watch “The Wizard of Oz”. But my sister and I convinced ourselves that we saw cartoons in color at home.

The first color TV I saw was a demonstration at the State Fair. Everyone had green foreheads!
