I learned to read very young through word recognition, so I could read very fast. I remember a kid in third grade noticing, and trying to read faster; but the only way he could was by skipping pages. Not sure why he was so competitive, it sure wasn’t helping him learn!
I have read books cover to cover on the first reading (between 1 to 4 hours) before rereading at a more leisurely pace to garner more on the storyline, characters etc. Before any asks, I read the Order of the Phoenix on the launch night in just under 2.5 hours before rereading the book another 6 times in the next 8 months. What’s funny though, is that I can read any Xanth book in about 2 hours.
I am sure that miles will be jealous that I can be reading up to a dozen books at the same time and will know where I am at and what is happening after reading a sentence or two.
One thing about the Xanth series by Piers Anthony is that the books (38 at last known count) are full of puns, some of which will hit you days, weeks, months or years later.

I found the faster I read, the more time I had to hone my yo-yo skills.

I wonder where this is going. I thought Kevin was becoming a master of R.O.Q.
