Wow. Batiuk is simply recycling his “joke” from last Nov. 12’s strip, where Hannah says she joined Amazon Prime “so Mitch would be picked up and delivered on the same day.” It’s bad enough that TB ran this premise into the mud just two months ago; now he’s doing it again with the same “punchlines.”
think, ultimately, how much in public funding could be eliminated from or diverted to other programs simply by closing the brick and mortar schools. When grad schools and universities are offering degrees via Distant learning by electronic devices. why can’t this be done with public education k-12?
Ed’s not thinking this through… the plan where your kids are picked up and taken to school one morning (say, Monday) and then not brought back until a different afternoon (say, Friday)? That’s called “boarding school,” Ed, and that’s the “premium” service.
I have a solution. Give each parents the equivalent of what they are paying in taxes for transportation so they will be responsible for delivering kids to school. Many already have to. Then sell all the buses and fire all the staff who make a game out of avoiding picking up the kids.

You still have to deliver the kids. How does that plan help?

It’s hilarious because absolutely nobody would choose the option of bringing your kid back a day later.

“Tears of service” are what parents cry when they find out their kids are on Ed’s route.

In the second frame it looks like it’s snowing so nobody is going anywhere.

And, what level service would it be for parents like the Keanes, who wouldn’t want their kids returned-EVER?

Some parents might pay to have their kids redelivered at home on the following day.
