I didn’t officially retire. A person who hated me assaulted me from behind and hit me in the head several times. That was back in August 1993. I tried to work in September, but could only work one day.
I started in 2012, and there was one driver who would say “This is my last year.” every year. He didn’t retire until the year we came back after COVID.
I’m already collecting a pension from the state, so I can’t get one from the school, but those that work at least 10 years of service credits (pro-rated because it’s part-time for most, will get a state pension. We have more than one driver who “retired” from the job, then “start back” the next day, with no loss in seniority, and they get their pension, plus pay for the job. No more pension credits though. It’s getting to be a pretty good job, because there’s such a shortage of drivers, they pay us well, and take good care of us. Let the guy who doesn’t believe me start ranting in 3, 2, …

I have 37 years in. I would retire but I need the health insurance. So 7 more years to go. If S.S. and Medicare are still around then.

Ed Crankshaft should have retired 3 decades ago. Although he picks up elementary school children, he hates them as bus passengers.

I always had the impression bus driving was a part time thing he did after he retired. But I guess he’s a career bus driver.

Which is why the students and their parents have been sweating it for the past three decades, wondering will Ed EVER RETIRE?
