No, no mockery at all….
Hey Beni, did Big Shirley win?
itraso about 15 years ago
Yeah, I would also like to know how Godzilla vs. Big Shirley ended. My money’s on Big S.

Perhaps it’s a wild boar.

If I were the boys, I’d be more afraid of Alice than Big Shirley.

Godzilla usually wins, because (as far as giant, city-destroying monsters go) Godzilla is a “good guy” (Godzilla is a friend to children!). The only time I’ve seen Godzilla lose (against another monster) was “King Kong vs Godzilla”, and I suspect that Kong was allowed to win that one out of deference to a hoped-for American audience.
BenPanced about 15 years ago
You can dish it out, but you can’t take it, huh, Alice?

What ever happened to those soft-lapped, milk-and-cookies grandmas??

I am not sure if this is true, but I was once told that “King Kong vs Godzilla” was shot with two endings. Kong Kong wins in the american version, Godzilla wins in the japanese version.

That could be. It’s actually sort of ambiguous. At the end of their battle, both are driven into the sea, and we see furious turbulence on the surface as they fight underneath. Then there’s a long calm, and we see Kong’s head rise above the waves and make for open water and his home island (presumably it’s not just his head which…er…heads off, but that’s all we see). Since Godzilla’s home is in a pineapple under the sea anyway, the fight may conceivably have been a draw.

Actually, the two Mothra larvae beat Godzilla in Godzilla vs Mothra (US title: Godzilla vs the Thing due to copyright issues with the name Mothra). They did it by covering the Big G in silk and driving him back into the sea.

I stand corrected. :-)

Is it just me or does Shirley look a lot like a pig in this day’s strip? Maybe that’s what she is and they’re just not telling the kids?
