Yes, it’s a good thing we’re told in boldface that she was SHOT, because she sure looks shot, what with that gaping hole in her and all the blood. I don’t blame Locher for this; it’s always confounded me that comic strips have such restrictive censorship compared to other media. They can’t even show guns as they’re being fired.
I have, however, use my own detective skills to deduce that the trapeze artist has had some… ahem… work done. Real ones don’t stand up while their owner lies down (nice viewpoint, Brozman).
In panel 1, with Dick’s eyes always drawn as if they’re shut, it’s unsettling to see them when they’re actually supposed to be shut.

When people go “splat” they bleed also, so unless there is a gaping hole in her (stop it) a casual examination may not reveal that she was shot. And as to why the trapeze artist was shot, The “Flying Graysons” and Boston Brand were murdered during their performances.
Hey Tracy, call for backup and secure the crime scene. Oh that’s right…backup will never show up and people will come and go from the Big Top and NO ONE will be questioned. Police work at its finest!!

As I’ve noted before this must be a Locher Mystery, always a convenient plot to AVOID the creation of an interesting Rogue. You’d think he’d give Brozman a shot at displaying his creative skills in the Gouldian genre.
Tracy, leaning over to get a closer look suddenly realized the red liquid on the ground was blood, not a spilled slushy drink.
“Oh, how I hate the sight of blood”, he disgustingly thought.
Dick knew that the sight of blood caused him to lose control of his bodily functions. He was extremely glad for the smell of the animals.
In a condescending voice Dick blurted out a firm, “No need for an ambulance - - she’s dead!
Dick felt empowered, felt alive, and felt in control! He wanted to continue providing his valuable insight.

Dick stopped talking when he worriedly saw the ringmaster sniffing the air, looking at him as he shouted out loud “NO”!
Meanwhile, Matthew the clown shouted from the sidelines, “She’s been shot”! While thinking what a stupid moron this guy with the stink problem was.
Dick, wanting to act like he was in control began to quiz the ringmaster.
“What’s going on here, Mr. Ringmaster? Who would shoot a trapeze artist”?
For added effect Tracy used his Vulcan eyebrow lift.
The ringmaster could only wonder why someone would go the circus in a suit and tie.
Um…Detective? Assailant with gun presumably still in tent with hundreds of people who are presumably on the edge of panic? The most consistent problem with the writing on this strip is that it ignores key details of the situations it sets up to the degree that there is no point getting involved in it. Look, I don’t expect reality, but some a nod to the idea of it would be nice.
Let’s not get into whether it’s legal for a non-doctor to pronounce a person dead (without examining her) and call a halt to all efforts to save her. We can’t expect Tracy to know things like that … it’s not as if he were a policeman or anything….
Also, if Dick thinks that there’s no need for an ambulance, how does he think that the body will get transported to the morgue? Is he going to put her in his family car to take her in?
Donnie, I think you hit on it! Macy is in his Coopper Mini with Tess and Bonnie. They’ll throw the body in the trunk and head out. Since they can’t close the trunk lid, he’ll tie it down. And on the way to the morgue, one of Naperville’s traffic cops notices Macy speeding across town with the cadaver hanging out the trunk. That scenario ought to make a good story in itself. TAKE IT FROM THERE, Bassmanbob!
“Nice copy & paste job in panel 2” (copied from 2 days ago), as someone said, is indicative of what we can expect from this strip. And coupled with the drawn out story arcs, DT has clearly fallen by the wayside. There is no effort being put into this strip anymore and it’s being milked until it’s not worth producing anymore. Sure, the history is there, but the end is in sight. Sad.

Well I think that’s supposed to be blood under the body, so that’s a clue.
It would be a more interesting murder if she’d been strangled, but one can’t have everything.
Why not shoot a trapeze artist? Are they immune to murder? She should have the same reasons for getting murdered anyone else would have.
