How big is that sub anyway? It appears that Tracy is jumping from 100 feet up! How come he wasn’t this agile when he was locked in the tiger’s cage?

Heads Up. Would the three who suggested alternative titles for DT please post them again, I didn’t get the names down. I got yours rabbitrose.

DT=Definately Terrible. BTW, I believe torpedoes have to be fire from the torpedo room, the command to fire is given from the conning tower. That and I do believe they have to have water to run (I could be wrong)

How does Tracy plan to get up in the ceiling? He isn’t Spiderman!

Like that submarine would have live torpedos & like Tracy could hear the Blank, or whatever his name is, from outside the sub. It is really too silly. How many more papers are carrying Dick Tracy than the 20 which carried Annie? I liked Annie’s movie a lot better than Dick Tracy’s.

I don’t know about which papers carry this (the Chicago Tribune does) but here is one reader who’s about had enough. I’ve been through a number of stories here, and all seem to follow a familiar pattern. Detective tries to hide, runs from crooks, occasionally wets pants. Will turn brave at the end when other police show up to turn tables on crooks. Thanks a lot, oh great detective, but I really don’t need your help to scream.

In defense of this indefensible strip, I will say this: The comments about a torpedo having to be fired from the torpedo room, and about torpedoes only working in the water, are quite right, but misguided:

Nothing isn’t saying he literally plans to fire a torpedo at Tracy. What we’re seeing is more of the groan-inducing puns for which this strip is now known. When Nothing speaking of torpedoing Tracy, he means it figuratively.

At least, I hope that’s the case. Most museums don’t generally keep live weapons loaded up in their war machine exhibits.

That was a spammer? I thought sdhgj was describing the shoes Tracy is wearing, to explain how he can survive the jump.

I’m going thru the entire A-Z Comic listing to find this spammer and flag him. He deserves to be torpedoed!

I like the second panel. Nice shading on the torpedo ports, nice rounding of the bow, all of Tracy’s body parts are correctly proportioned, and his tie is streaming back showing the speed of his fall.

Believe it or not-I know of one paper that actually added this strip and discontinued Dilbert

Now watch-Spacy will climb up in the ceiling-jump down on top of Johnny, incapacitating him, and then-take off running again

Yes, but the bad guy in Rex Morgan only has a knife. Nothing has a gun, but Tracy should have doubled his track by now and taken him from behind. I like the idea of recycling the old strips. The only reason I read this is for nostalgia & what could be more nostalgic than the original? Why would anyone, but the police, need a gun in Naperville? I always thought it was a pretty nice town.

Does the sub have working torpedoes? Why does Tracy want to hide in the ceiling? Shouldn’t he be making his way back to the theater to get his crack colleagues to help him? What’s with Tracy’s right eye in panel 3, does he have a stye?

I realize it is silly of me to suggest this. But, would it not be prudent for the great defective to head back towards the rest of the police? Or, at least call for backup?

Since today’s Dick Tracy prefers to run and hide, why doesn’t he run back to Liz and hide behind her skirt? It seems a lot easier than trying to hide in a ceiling.

Not bad for a man who in this comic is in his 50’s.

I have bot forgotten, Marg. I have a list of all entries. but didn’t have the names for three of them. I’m still short two names, I plan to leave it open to entries throuih Sundsy.
