If that’s the back of the plane, how can Tracy have his head turned around so far? Someone mentioned something about a backseat for a gunner. OK, if Tracy is facing towards the rear, I would say from the size of his head it’s a real tight fit. Anyway, where’s the gun for the gunner?
Since this is a Science Museum, why is JB’s lightweight mask falling at the same rate as his body and the ax?
Yes, I’ve heard of Galileo. I’m familiar with the feather & hammer drop on moon by an Apollo astronaut. But the moon is airless. That lightweight mask would be affected by air currents, especially with its shape. I think the mask was sheer enough to give JB some view of his surroundings. Unless it was really heavy, I would assume it would drop like a falling leaf, swinging back and forth, while the heavier body and ax would drop almost straight down.
“Just another great strip today! A fun chase sequence and a great cliff-hanger. Great Stuff! Just enough of a cliff-hanger to keep us guessing without giving away the next day’s surprise.”
Panel-Panner - It may be that he’s just one of those rare nice guys who actually see good in everybody and everything and ignore the bad in all of us. It’s actually good to know that there are still some of them out there.
However, if he reads this strip every day, he might just change his tune.
Are you surprised Dick ? Somebody came to your rescue and you look surprised , Dick ? I thought that was your plan , Dick ! You cowardly hid yourself like a sissy and you are surprised , Dick ?
H’mmm. Looks like Johnny’s mask fell off as he’s falling…so when he lands we can actually see his face, and maybe find out who shot him.Exciting stuff…
The cockpit canopy looks much more smashed open in panel 2 than in panel one…OH NOOOOOO!!!! The expansion/contraction has gone from macro (The museum itself) to micro (the plane)….
That’s a mask? I thought the Blank really didn’t have a face! But then, I wasn’t reading Dick Tracy when he started in 1931. I wasn’t borned until 1953.
And once again, I like Dick Tracy and that’s my right! Sure, some stories are better than others. But I still don’t understand why those of you who don’t like him keep following the comic. But then, I kept following him during the “Moon Maid” days which I couldn’t stand. I guess once you get started, you still want to know what’s going to happen. I will admit this: “Annie’s” stories were much better and I miss her. Also, I never meant to cause any hard feelings with what I said while back. It’s just Dick has been my hero from childhood and no matter what faults some of his stories have, I felt some of you were being too hard on him. But I meant no offense or anything personal.
Dingleberryman- We pick on Locher because he is getting paid money for this tripe! As Yogi Berra would say, that’s like cash! There are plenty of people around here who would like to make those kind of bucks for sophomorish work, to be generous to him.
By the way, that’s a nice handle you have there! Can’t wait to see the avatar!
Dberrymal1 - I’ve taken no offence. In fact, I appreciate the fact that you enjoy this strip. Reading what SimonPenn said, you’re not the only one. I used to read this strip every day in my youth but actually quit reading it several years years ago when I thought it got too boring. I thought it was just me, now I think not. I returned here after we lost Annie and I get more of a kick out of reading people’s comments than the strip itself.
Tracy is not just surprised; he’s disappointed. Why else would he have intentionally cornered himself in the least defensible, least escapable place in the entire museum, unless he’d been subconsciously trying to end his life? Tracy wants out of this mess more than you do.
If they REALLY wanted to put a twist in this thus far sorry episode of DICK TRACY, whoever gunned down the latest version of The Blank would open fire on Tracy only to be gunned down by Chief Lizz who would by that time FINALLY get a clue.
By the way, I bet Chief Lizz is the person who just killed The Blank.

BTW, good to see Tracy didn’t get hurt by all that flying glass, especially when he kept his eyes wide open.

Wonder how long he’ll take to hit bottom? Looks like the plane’s starboard wing is gone.

Or am I wrong? Any science teachers out there?

You have a point. Things fall at the same rate in a vaccum. Although this strip sucks, I doubt it qualifies as a vaccum.

If Nothing falls in a science museum and there is no one around to hear it, does this strip still stink?

Radish said The Blank should hit the ground around Friday.
My money is on next Tuesday, after lunch.

In this museum all laws of gravity are suspended. Nothing and his ax and mask will be falling for at least 3 days.

Nothing’s falling looks like the falling man logo from the opening credits of A&E’s “Mad Men”. But, opps, that’s a quality story!

Tracey looks like he belongs to that head in a bottle club from Futurerama in the first panel. He could be FBI Chief for President of Earth Nixon.
