Great strip (as always), but the colors are fantastic – The blueish glow from Panda’s computer monitor shining on his face in panel 2 is a beautiful, a subtle lighting effect! So too, the shadows highlighting Panda’s features in panel 3, and the ominous shadows falling on Little Face in panels 4 and 5!After seeing how third-rate colors have messed up the recent strips’ images from the wrist wizards, it’s great seeing the work of someone who knows how to use color! (Right down to highlighting Tracy’s red necktie!)Shane, your work is much appreciated!
I am even more worried for Leonard today; his fiddling around with his wrist (with the Old Two-Way Wrist TV) seems pretty prolonged and obvious. But the MCU is getting good intel, as long as Leonard is able to maintain cover….
LOCATION ? LOCATION ? LPCATION ?Good counter intellegence !And Bugging the ’ Buggers ’ !But- WHERE the Heck are they, in panel 6 ? At the Tracy Agency or back at the ’ bugged ’ H.Q. ?The Tracy Agency’s unlikely to have that Hi-tec equipment ?Thenm, can’t help but observe that Little Face in playing a dangerous double game, and moving with panache, ease, and confidence !. He’s operating like one cool cucumber here !
I agree about today’s coloring. Really nice work especially in the Mr Crime lair, giving it a cool 1950s vibe. Leonard’s fiddling w the Two-way Wrist TV does seem very obvious. Is it that important that Tracy and crew SEE what’s going on and not just hear it? It certainly seems like they’re back at the station in the last panel. I’m sure they haven’t forgotten about the mole so are watching in private. They must know that the mole hasn’t set any monitoring devices.
Can Little Face (excuse me: Leonard) be discreet enough with what he’s doing? Didn’t Panda (or Mr Crime) bring him in to be a fall guy? IMO, this cannot end well.
If I was a betting man, I’d bet that Lenard is safe and will not be caught. I do want justice to win, but I cannot stand a snitch. Most folks would want Lenard to do well, but we know that he is playing with fire.
This story line is brilliant. At this point we have some information but not enough to know the full story. Keeping us on the edge of our seats!! Mike and Joe doing and outstanding job!
I don’t think the Tracy team is in HQ and the mole is aware. I think they know who the mole is and we be setting him up to go down with Mr. Crime, Panda and the rest.
Once the MCU learned of the bug, I’m certain that a complete sweep of the premises was conducted and the hidden camera found. The camera would have then been neutralized unless the MCU intended to give false information to the Mr. Crime gang. It is doubtful to me that Tracy would be so dumb as to have knowledge of the leak and still continue to allow them to watch him. A couple of days of electronic experts searching the squad room would have slowed down the pace of the story. A simple line of dialogue like, “We found the hidden camera and neutralized it.” would explain it but I think that we can assume that the listening device is now gone.
Love the panel by the title topper. Hasn’t anyone figured out who Mr. Crime is yet? I thought it might be The Blank, but have since done my detective homework. Clue #1 was the demolition of the original Crime’s hideout nearly a year ago. (Yes, it’s been that long!) A figure was seen trudging through the rubble with a bag from some comic shop. He may have been threre to retrieve some important papers pertaining to the original gang. At best, we can assume he is a collector of sorts. Clue #2 focused on Blaze Rize delivering a weekly package to Davey Mylar at his suburban house. Clearly shown here that Davey is a collector of memorabilia. Clue #3 was where Panda said Davey was some relation to George Alpha, the original Mr. Crime. In order for this crime head to appear innocuous, wouldn’t it make sense for him to appear as some of of drooling fanby dweeb, when it actuality he has the cunning and deadliness of a true crime lord? Just asking.
I’m betting Tracy & Co. aren’t in MCU HQ at all, but watching from Diet Smith’s R&D. I’m thinking they went to him to get the wrist TV for Leonard, and are avoiding the MCU ready room in hopes of keeping the mole from learning anything.Of course, if the mole does know about Leonard’s defection, it means he saw the image from the wrist wizard.
Thanks, Jim, for today’s Hall of Fame!Another great history segment, with a surprise connection to Fritz Lang’s classic thrillers!Yet another reason to enjoy this strip!
Using the old two-way wrist TV is a brilliant idea for this scenario. It gives the MCU secure communications by making use of this old adage: When they are expecting you to use high tech, give them low tech, it’ll throw them every time.
Why don’t they have Little Face just lead them to the hideout and arrest everybody right now? They already have all the evidence they need to convict them of murder…….oh, then we wouldn’t have a “story”, would we? Duhhhh…….my bad.

That last panel worrries me. It looks like they are in the MCU. That implies that “the mole” will see what they see.

Actually scared for this now-sympathetic character. Hope he survives.

How much can the mole see? Leonard is using an old two-way wrist TV. Maybe the MCU is betting that the leak is digital and not analog.

Sisyphos, you read my mind. I’m also quite concerned for Leonard. He’s not being discreet with the wrist TV, and I fear he’s going to get caught.

Nice to see Fritz Langs “M” (1931) mentioned. One of the great suspence films of all time.

Then again, maybe the plan IS to be obvious with the wrist TV, to lure the mole into a trap…..

Yeah, I’ve long thought Davey Mylar was behind it all, living out the comic book stories he collects. He’s even created his own “injustice gang.”
