That was unfair on poor Sam…and as a matter of fact a bit undignifying. He nearly chocked, for Goulds sake!

OH, forgot to mention these latest strips are brought to you by, Mug Root Beer. Yes, our favorite K9 has his own brew. (Mug is Mugg’s alias.) Perhaps one of you tech savvy folks can put up a pic?

Not quite sure how we got from “looking for Sam” to “brawny tech helping Sam” with nothing in between, but nonetheless I’m glad he made it all right (except perhaps for his injured dignity; ewww!).

A poop joke? Really? REALLY?

Poor Sam, how undignified. What would Fritz Ann say? After this near miss, maybe Det. Catchem has finally learned to stop rushing into dangerous situations before back up arrives. After all, once you have a location and visual confirmation on the bad guys, the rest is easy.

A rapid rescue for Sam leaves us to anticipate the appearance of the next villain and the reappearance of…well, you know who.

Haha poor Sam.

Is Sam wearing a “wet” suit? ?

This strip has not jumped the shark.

I think NightShade09 is right – too many people today jumped at a wrong conclusion about the source of the bad odor. It would be quite silly and juvenile to have that kind of a joke in the strip, but I didn’t even think of it until some of the others started posting. I thought it was old sweat, Sam’s sweat, and the smell of old rubber combined.

Just remember, guys….

Maybe not a “poop joke”, readers — perhaps Sam’s smoking issue is finally about to be addressed (since in Chicago, you can’t do it nearly anywhere)…

Looks like it’s time to break out the ole

Actually in my 20’s, I would play WINNIE THE POOH for a local Sears store. The suits were heavy Disney issue, but only cleaned (however it was done) once a year. So if you wore the suit for an hour, you ended up smelling like 20 or more other people before you.

Several times in the past few days, you said things like “when I was doing it” with reference to the strip. What IS that if not pretending to be a previous writer/artist? You are obviously not that dumb, therefore we must deduce that you did it on purpose.

You have to wonder though if there is any way to get rid of the trolls. Without unleashing a wave of eliminations of people who actually contribute to the conversation.

Not really. On 9/17 Phishface said that Sam had less than 1 hour of air available. So he didn’t miss much.

Actually, that still was “Do you feel lucky, punk?” That was the one in Dirty Harry.The “Go ahead! Make my day!” was from Sudden Impact. And he was indoors, facing a punk/perp/creepo/thug who was holding a hostage. Was it the caffeine or the sugar?

.Very, very nice ending to this wonderful story! Today’s strip is so cute and touching! To all you people complaining about how illogical much of it has been, “It’s just a comic for gosh sake”! What do you want, stories that make sense? Endings arrived at without requiring tremendous leaps of faith? You’re not going to get that here so just don’t expect it and you’ll enjoy the stories for what they’re worth. If it is Moon Maid, it’s still just a comic. Stranger things have happened before in Dick Tracy so why why not bring MM back? Of course if I brought her back EVERYONE would be ripping me, complaining how I drew her hands or saying the pace of the story was too slow! The Hypocrisy of it all is amazing. Go figure.etc.,ect….. Yea, I don’t think it has anything to do with your choice of an avatar.

Sam has been trapped in that diver suit and left to suffocate. The panels clearly show him dripping with sweat. How are some of you people coming up with other crazy ideas about what the foul odor is? I guess to me it seemed rather obvious.
