I’m kind of wondering whether they really have the film or did they just fabricate this story in order to attract Vitamin Flintheart for some nefarious purpose. At this point, I’m still thinking that it’s legit. Otherwise we wouldn’t have much of a story, but I don’t see where this is going.
There was always a lot of smoking in the old DT strip. Tracy smoked in the 30’s. We all smoked at one time….I think…Gould had a great way of cartooning it…before the Surgeon General’s Warnings.
Do you think its a bad idea for the writers to promote smoking in Dick Tracy? At least half the characters smoke. No offense to those of you who are smokers. But I think we all know its bad for your health.
I’m not a smoker and the fact that some characters in Dick Tracy smoke does not bother me at all. Sam and Vitamin have always smoked, so it is a legitimate aspect of their character. It can be visually interesting, giving Mr. Staton an additional element to work with in the panels. As has been noted, Silver’s smoke takes the shape of popcorn. I do not see the fact that some characters smoke as promoting the use of tobacco. Just my two cents.
Geeze-loiuse, “sis” wouldn’t even shake the Great Man’s hand! Also, I thought there was someone she reminds me a little bit of: Ugly Christine! All those years ago!!
I find it curious to see the bridge’s prize denizen taking every passing word as a personal attack on him. You mention the word “zealot” and he goes beserk. Lighten up, man. Better yet, move to Colorado where you can stay lit up!
Top of the morning boys and girls and all you TI’s out there! I guess Flintheart wins the coveted SMOKESTACK trophy over Nitrate since in panel two it’s apparent his smoke trail goes much higher. Congratulations to the winner!^^Yes, Staton needs to put a lot of these characters on the “patch”
I don’t smoke and haven’t for many years. That said, I don’t understand all the fuss about DT characters that smoke. I like it, to tell you the truth. I remember when Lizz used to smoke and wish she’d go back to it. Seems sexist to say male characters can smoke and females can’t.
“Hi Willy, it’s not so much that some of the characters smoke as it is an issue with some posters resorting to name calling; such as nincompoops in attacks against those who express disapproval of smoking in the strip. Big Brother is alive and well in Tracyville.
" NINCOMPOOPS " ?

SDM, don’t you have anything else to do besides insult normal people during working hours of the workweek? There’s no way you work for anyone because you must spend all day finding videos and gifs. Your co-workers (if they all haven’t quit by now) must really look up to you.
Put me in the “let’em smoke” category. I quit cigarettes 27 years ago and I’m not bothered by fictitious characters acting like smokestacks. Art imitates life and there are still people in the real world that still smoke. The PC crowd should concentrate their concerns on them instead of comic characters.
However I believe Tracy, Sam, Liz and everyone else in the “Tracyverse” should definitely quit eating meat and go vegan, lol.

Good morning all…
There are more smokers than there are non-smokers in DT it appears.
Vista Bill Raley and Comet™ almost 11 years ago
… and they are all chain smokers!

Maybe Abner is going to get cleaned up, and come over and steal it to add to his one-of-a-kind collection.

I mean, Vitamin’s first flick has got to be a horror show of it’s own kind, lol.

What goes into the Lyric, stays in the Lyric. Or does it? I wonder if Sprocket irons her hair to keep it straight?

Still wondering what that mark is on Sprocket’s face. A scar?

Sprocket reminds me a lot of Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I wonder – if Silver is a big film fan, maybe instead of collecting old movies, he collects old movie actors!

Typical propaganda tactic to label a person a Zealot and Anti for having a strong conviction on a subject.^^Agreed

I’m kind of hoping that it’s not a video piracy plot. It seems like we just had one of those, although it was a number of years ago.
