Concerning the hearts around Vitamin’s head in the last frame : is he in love with Kandikane, the movie she’s making about him, or his reflection in the camera lens ?
Who’s the guy with the round glasses? He’s new, isn’t he?
Vitamin is oblivious to a lot of what’s happening around him, as heart spin in a circle around his head. It was love at first sight of Kanfikane and it hasn’t diminished one bit.
As far as Gruesome goes, he’d better not threaten Mr. Mel too much or in the wrong place at the wrong time or Kandikane will get it all on tape. In fact, she may have already done that today.
Vitamin is feeling like a 16-year-old boy with his first big hormonal crush! Kandikane brings out the best the old guy can muster for his sweetums! Gruesome…err…Christopher Cushing sees an angle here. What does the videocam see?
Good morning fans especially VistaBill. The love bug has bitten Vitamin. He will need a lot of vitamins to keep his hearts going. Good comments all. Have a blessed day all.
Just a thought.Could Blaze have used her new start to work in films? Possibly with Kandikane’s company?B-B Eyes’ comment about all the ‘equipment’ in Blaze’s apartment (which we were carefully not shown), could have set up a link between them.
Really nice non spectacular art today. Staton even makes two people talking a pleasure to view. Nice story line as well. This strip really deserves to have the circulation that it had in it’s hey day.
So now we are to believe a few things that are more than just a bit of a stretch… broadway bates is the penguins brother.. when there was never mention of any sibling in cobblepot’s history..and lois lane is sister to margot lane and this new character kandikane lane?
look, i’m as open minded as the next guy, and I “get” most of the ‘nods’ thrown around.. but c’mon this is getting a little absurd.
I like the rich variety of characters in this Gruesome tale. The play’s the thing, even as Cupid plays with Flintheart’s heart-strings. NightShade09 has an interesting idea regarding a possible recent target for Kandikane’s camera. Has Blaze been in the moving pictures? A fresh start in a new field interrupted by B-B? Tracyville is a complex place once again, so what is seen here may not stay here, but be part of a subsequent story. The Patterson Playhouse reminds me a bit of the Cadillac Palace Theatre, where I had the good fortune to see National Treasure, Bob Dylan, last night. The goods..The only thing missing at the Patterson is Cary Grant. Like Gruesome, Archibald Alexander Leach (January 18, 1904 – November 29, 1986) did not use his real name. What a talent. So many classic roles in films that have stood the test of time, such as The Awful Truth, His Girl Friday, Arsenic and Old Lace, None But the Lonely Heart, Notorious, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, An Affair to Remember, North by Northwest and many more.
Thanks to Gweedo, mzkdad and Jonathan K. for the kind words. Much appreciated.
@Night-Gaunt49@Josh LyonsAbe did lend his voice to “Batman the animated series.”Which character ? I have all those !
Gweedo, I didn’t find him on the series, but I did see him credited for VA work on Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. He is the voice of Salvatore “Sal the Wheezer” Valestra. Here is a quote to remember him by:
[Sal walks through the remains of the “Future of Gotham” park as the robots sing; then the Joker enters]Joker: I hate that song… Gasp! Can it be? Old Sallie “the Wheezer” Valestra! Welcome, paisan! It’s been a dog’s age!Salvatore “Sal The Wheezer” Valestra: [nervously] Hello, Joker. Didn’t mean to drop by unannounced.
I don’t suppose I need to tell you who voiced the Joker, Mark Hamill. Most of us know him as Luke Skywalker. For those who like anime feature films by Studio Ghibli, Hamill also voiced the villain, Col. Muska, in the English dub of Castle in the Sky aka Laputa. Near the end he starts to slip into his Joker voice and laugh a bit. I can never watch the English version because of that. Hamill has done quite a few voices actually.
Gweedo, are those heart-shaped thingies in the last panel somehow connected to the heavily-scented Depends that Vitamin is wearing just for her? Ya know, us old guys really know how to pour on the charm when we splash a little “sweet-smellum” in the Depends! It’s like catnip.
In today’s Gasoline Alley, Walt Wallet, along with Rufus and Joel visited the retired cartoon character home and Little Orphan Annie was there. Also considering the recent Tracy in the Barney Google strip we seem to be having a plethora of crossovers. I think as long as they keep these brief and stick to comic strips that are not way out of context Team Tracy can continue to do this. I don’t read anything into the Penguin or Lois Lane connections since those characters are not present and could be anyone actually.

I’m wondering if Vitamin’s infatuation is more about a return to the silver screen, than the director.

A good Crimestoppers today, too. I thought Ness had a Native American on the Untouchables; now I know who he really was.Thanks.

Before the surgery, “Gruesome” was an ironic nickname for a fellow who looked like David Niven. :-P

Mr. Dee, don’t make Abe Vigoda angry. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.
