Apparently, Ghost wasn’t in such bad shape after all. As for Tracy calling the cops, doesn’t he know that Tracy is the cops? Note the stain on Ghost’s white left lapel (our right).
I thought the Ghost was a goner. He’s still got to make it out of the snow covered mountains on foot with an injured shoulder though. At least Tracy gets treated by EMTs.
So both Tracy and Ghost have dislocated shoulders. That’s not a bullet wound, it’s the light from the phone. Tracy fired at the back on the truck and hit the tire.
Hopefully now there might be a chase. However, Tracy does not seem to be in proper shape to participate if there is one. But with his super-human constitution, I’m sure he would heal quickly and in a few days won’t even have a sore shoulder
Wow, I actually have called several elements of this story. That’s never happened before.
I anticipated Tracy using his two-way to call for help while being dragged, and I also talked about Sam arriving and Ghost hiding in the trees.
I hope that the EMTs can relocate Tracy’s shoulder, and (since this is Dick Tracy and not real life, where Tracy would probably need hospital care) Tracy and Sam will follow the footprint trail for at least a small Gould-style chase.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m kind of sad that Ghost survived. I agree with many that he had an interesting start, but there has been little since then to make him an interesting character. As in, he’s ugly in the Gouldian tradition and appears to like to kill people for paltry sums of money. Yeah, we need to get him off the street, but we also need to move on…
Maybe Ghost is dead and doesn’t realize it. Remember the 1990 movie “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Swayze’s character didn’t realize he was dead at first. In the 1999 movie “The Sixth Sense”, Bruce Willis’s character didn’t realize he was dead until the end of the movie. Hope I didn’t spoil it for anyone who hadn’t seen either movie.
While I can’t be certain, it appears in yesterday’s panel 3 as though the van has come to rest tilted to the right (passenger’s) side; if so, today’s panel 1 would seem to show the van’s left (driver’s) side, from which the injured Ghost has miraculously extricated himself even though he seemed yesterday to be unconscious. It is somewhat ironic that both he and Tracy now have injured shoulders, though the nature of Ghost’s injury is unclear. He might have been shot in the left shoulder by Tracy as the van was skidding off the road (see Neil’s sketch from yesterday to help visualize how this was possible), but it is for now just as likely to be an injury resulting from the accident.
If he does make good his escape from the accident site, Ghost will probably have to carjack some fortuitous passing driver on that road not much travelled. But if this arc is supposed to end by April, he shouldn’t get very far….
What the heck just happened here? Did I miss something? How in the Sam Hill did the Ghost just toddle out of the wreck and scoot off without anyone, ANYONE noticing?
We saw him, behind the wheel, with Sam and Dick just a few feet away. And he’s tip-toed through the tulips on his way to the switchback, without detection.

Yeah, it is pretty hard to kill someone who is already dead, like Ghost.

Will Ghost get away? And end up hiding out wherever Sawtooth (and his henchman) ended up? Then they can all wait for Abra Kadaver to finally show.

Beware of the switchback. You may encounter that train that everyone is anticipating.
