Things are getting ridiculous—you just don’t talk to a cop aiming a gun at you like that! And it was so predicable that the Green Hornet would show up. Now if only Daddy Warbucks and the Asp makes an appearance we can have a real free-for all!
Tracy has his firearm aimed right at Topper and the crook is still giving him lip? Also, the silhouette behind GH doesn’t look like the Red Wasp. No “excess hair” coming from under the hat.
If Hornet wanted the police to put Topper away, why didn’t he just let Tracy arrest him? Tracy has the drop on Topper. Topper can go to jail and Hornet can drive back to Central City. Mission accomplished.
Unless, Topper is Hornet’s small fish leading to a bigger fish. But who’s higher in the chain than Topper? Topper was run out of Central City and had to come begging to the Apparatus for permission to run his scam in Tracyville (by himself at first and with a 2-thug gang he acquired sometime later). That doesn’t sound like a guy working for a bigger fish to me. That sounds like a guy struggling to hang on.
To me this has been one of those “wouldn’t it be cool” stories. Marvel used to do a lot of these back in the 80s. “Wouldn’t it be cool if Ant Man could battle the Hulk?” “Wouldn’t it be cool if Superman could battle Spider-Man?” “Wouldn’t it be cool if Dick Tracy could team up with The Spirit?” “Wouldn’t it be cool if Tracy could battle The Green Hornet?” "Wouldn’t it be cool if [fill in the blank].
In these tales the climactic “wouldn’t it be cool” scene is conceived first {the ultimate battle which is actually the whole point of the story) and weak plot (usually convoluted because normally there would be no way these characters from different universes would ever meet) written to justify that pre-determined “wouldn’t it be cool” climax.
It seems like we are gearing up today for a big fight. If both Topper and Hornet get away again, it will be like those old jokes where the same thing happens twice and the third time is the punch line.
This story seems far from over to me. Why is Lafayette even in it? Was Kato kidnapped or undercover? What happened to the counterfeiters? Tune in tomorrow. Same Hornet time, same Hornet channel.
I’m ready to get out of the super-hero mode and back to some “original” crooks.

With Tracy having his pistol at the ready and GH his gas gun, Topper’s bravado is reckless, to say the least; does he think he is going to skate somehow? His two thugs won’t be much of a problem for the assorted Good Guys here.
And unless Joe forgot to give Red Wasp her wig today, that must be Kato, straight out of undercover, behind the GH….
