Lacey will understand. If I remember correctly she has an open mind enough to be a conservative.

Anxious to see how Lacey comes to grips with this.

Even after all the years since this strip came out most states still outlaw medical marijuana.

Tell her it’s cannabis. 100 years everyone called it cannabis. Then we switched to “marijuana” to make Mexicans look bad.

In the early ‘70s, my uncle’s opthomologist couldn’t control his glaucoma with available meds and told him unofficially to try marijuana as there was literature just starting to be published showing effectiveness to reduce pressure in the eye.

When you’re that close to death, a piddly federal crime isn’t all that serious.

When my Mom had cancer in the early 00’s, I offered to get her some pot to help with the nausea. She declined, being pretty conservative. It turned out that three different friends of hers, her minister’s wife, a retired army officer, and her nearby neighbor had all also offered. Not your father’s North Carolina!

I think what really opened my eyes to the benefits was hearing from someone “My grandfather doesn’t want to get high, he just wants to stop throwing up!”. Not that I didn’t know about that already, but this made it strike home.

My father-in-law has Pancreatic cancer. When he was diagnosed the 5 year survival rate was 3%. That was SEVEN years ago. We keep him supplied with a steady supply of cannabis tinctures, gummies, powders, etc that my wife has researched extensively, here in good old CA. Some of his Doctors (he’s in AL) are thrilled with what it has done, others claim it can’t POSSIBLY be the reason he’s still alive. My F.I.L.‘s stock answer "I’m a scientist. What is the one thing I am doing differently than all the other patients you have had here in Alabama die from this disease? What does science tell us from this?"
