If the odds were as good as one in a million, it WOULD be worth it. Our “Education Lottery” isn’t working; people haven’t learned enough to stop playing.
I heard that for one of our Canadian lotteries, somebody sold off everything that they owned including their house and car and put the money toward tickets. The idea being that if they bought enough tickets, they HAD to win the big one. They didn’t ; they won lots of smaller prizes but didn’t come close to recouping what they spent. That was many years ago and for all I know, it may not have even really happened. May have just been a story that got told and retold.

Better odds to get hit by lightning (1 in 17 million) than winning a lottery (one in several hundred millions).

Good plan Eno, if you win you will still have a roof over your head.

One in a million? That’s wildly over optimistic!
