So where do we go from here? Expose this group and hang them?

Okay. So Mavis is pure evil, as in nothing good about her. As opposed to the rest of the crew who do bad most of the time but, at times, their plights are “understandable.”

And yet many believe they’ve received closure now that a fox has been hung for all the trouble. And let’s not forget that Doctor Chase discovered teeth marks on the bones found in the water… from multiple species!

It’s just a matter of time before someone else realizes that there’s more to all of this than she and her people are leading everyone to believe. After all, Mavis is where she is because someone figured her role in it…

I wondered all along why it appeared that only 2 “species” were involved in the conflict. Now, I see why. I can see that Dottie was also taken in by this manipulation, and unwittingly helped it along.

Jacob looks gobsmacked again by Mavis’ reply—quite different from his expression when he asked the question.

If they’re recording this, making it public could do a lot to resolve the problem.

See, I told you – Columbo used to do this. He’d strap suspects to a table, and they’d happily confess everything rather than having their head fried to a crisp. I… think that was what he used to do. Or did I dream it?

The crunch will come when Mavis either will or will not name the others.

All Endtowners are created equal. But some Endtowners are more equal. (with apologies to Animal Farm.)

I think we’ll find that Mavis is only a lower level member of the Committee. She absorbed and believes all the swill the Committee’s been spewing and sees herself as better than all the other Endtowners who do not believe as she does. Other than setting the Neural device on Puree, you are not going to dispel her firm beliefs that she and the other Committee members are in the Right.Hitler made the Jewish people the scapegoats for all that was wrong with the world, in Endtown, the Pigs are the scapegoats. And very tasty ones at that.

WOW! Mavis is a true believer. Even Velda raised an eyebrow. Like Animal Farm……all are equal……just some are more equal than others. The Culling of the Herd.

As rotten as all of this is, she’s only explaining what’s already happened. What other nefarious deeds does Mavis’ cell have planned—and what is their end goal?

Say what you will about good and evil, but the fact remains that some serious thinking went into creating this situation. The Nazis blamed Jews (and some others) for the problems faced by the “Aryans”. This goes a step further than that. Imagine some German masterminds that decided they would let the Nazis run amok, killing Jews, only to be reigned in (and probably slaughtered) by the forces of the masterminds, to maintain “law and order.” It would have been “Too bad about the Jews, but at least those crazy Nazis are finished!” Hitler proved to be clever and lucky enough to avoid that.

Thanks for the serious thinking, Mr. Neary.

Mavis: “Look, it’s easy. You set up a strawman to distract the masses from your actual goal, then work behind the scenes to profit off both sides. We learned a lot from you, Jake.”

Jake: “I never said that you should resort to cannibalism!”

Mavis: “You didn’t have to. We brought that one to the table ourselves.”

Endtown needs a common enemy and the only one that comes to mind are the Topsiders. Maybe it’s time to think about taking back the country.

The artwork in this strip is just -no, not just, beyond that. The artwork in this strip superb to the Nth. Not only do we have an evocative story, the illustrations are truly filling in parts of the backstory. This is wonderful, Mr. Neathery. It is a real pleasure to read, think about, and enjoy.

Alright, at this point I don’t think there’s a way to deny this has all been an allegory for social media culture.

I think part of Jacob’s surprise is the fact that they did all this right under his nose. Jacob obtained his current position through some clever manipulation, aided by that extra-dimensional character, Marx. Now, I’m wondering if Mavis’ cohorts could perform all of their diabolical social manipulation on their own. Or, did they have help? Help from “outside”; but not from Marx. We’ve had hints of another being “out there”, something very BAD. It got into Jim and wiped out most of Unity. It has appeared in dreams as an enemy of Marx. Could that thing be at work here? It apparently craves destruction.

I’m wondering if what we’re seeing with Mavis is the same thing that happened with Lucas the wolf, when Jake shot him and said that Lucas was an idiot for believing he really was a wolf. Are Mavis and her friends convinced that being anthro-mutants is a get-out-of-jail-free card for eating other mutants. “We are animals, so it’s ok to act like them.”
