But Irving seems to be doing Okay, even after weeks living with Wally and Kirbee. And we don’t know how long he lived with Chick before Wally came along.
None of this answers the lingering question of why “normal” humans are being transformed into whatever you want to call the anthros/mutants/cardoodles. Does this topsider believe it’s a virus? Is that what everyone in every reality thinks aside from the computer on the faux-Edmund Fitzgerald?
What is the life expectancy of the ones that turn into nauseating slime-oozing knife-toothed zorks, sickening hairy many-clawed zorchtrons, and horrible palpitating limb-ripping zilchtrons?
I can only reiterate what I said last comic, plus honestly there’s in-universe contradictions to her claims (Mallard and Holly for example). Whether or not Aaron reads this, having been a reader and author of multiple fancomics since 2013, the implications of this are repulsive.
But Topsider, you said yourself earlier (December 29th, 2019 panel 3) that time passes differently in different dimensions. What does this mean for Wally, Duffy and company????
Say, by this point in time how long was it since the apocalypse? That everybody that got turned into an animal will take the lifespan of their animal from is pretty major news. It will most likely spell the doom of no topsider civilization as too many will die before they get the education needed to be able to do modern work to keep a civilization going. A chicken has a natural lifespan of 5-10 years with the world record being 16 years, so the future for Chick is not too bright. Lifespan for cats are 2-16 years, so Duffy and Wally are on a short timer too.
I wonder if Duffy is imagining his brother as one of the samples being tested and what did he have to go thru – and then to see the horror in the water – it would make me sweat and want to hide.
She is stating what is real in her timelime/reality-line, whatever it’s called. But in her reality do the “Volunteers” then have their brains removed to run machines? Or is her reality that much different? Time will tell. I’ve been reading this story for a long time and I know that Mr. N. is not as inconsistent as some commentators seem to think.
wait…how long has the world been like this? We had a main character who was a mouse that got transformed in the initial disaster, mice only live about 4 years so was the apocalypse really less than 4 years ago?
Yeah, some holes in this lifespan hypothesis. There are short-lived animal mutants that changed in the original crisis, like Holly. So either they live longer than, for example, mice, or the crisis happened within a mouse’s lifetime ago, which means they wouldn’t have any real data on how long a mouse mutant might last.

Something wicked this way comes? Better speak up, Duffy!

And yet Holly and others survived for longer than a mouse would. But she was cracking up at the end.
But if all this is true, why murder anthros?

If she is from a parallel reality, isn’t it possible that lifespan length is different there?

A lot of questions that some of us have had for years are being answered. Pretty cool. :-)

I’ve often wondered why some mutate to human size, like Flask, and others to animal size, like Wally?

Take a look at panel three. As one of my high school teachers would say: "BOHICA – bend over, here it comes again ".

Now this is a rational Topsider. Three straight years of volunteers……..brave volunteers indeed. Now about that scary thing in panel three!!!!0.0
