Actually, the current model of “generative AI” is built on mimicking what humans write. And that is not research journals, but everything: GoComics, X, Facebook, Truth Social, Fox, etc. If it said something like in the comic, I wouldn’t believe it: it is just copying some SciFi writers’ ideas. But more likely, it would make something stupid up instead of saying that.

Can’t be any worse than what tRump’s done to humanity.

Our fear of AI is greatly overblown. Increasing climate related disasters is what we need to get really serious about. My money is on nations continuing to fail to cooperate, making only token gestures at solutions, reneging on previous goals, and electing leaders who love money and don’t give a rat’s patootie about the environment. I’m very pessimistic about the future of the human race. But I’m optimistic that Mother Nature will bring the Earth back into balance once she “gets rid of the problem.”

just realized: AI is the Borg!

Ambiguous. Is it humanity or AI that’s far too stupid? At the moment, I’d say either one is valid.

AI —→ because those phone tree systems are so much better than talking to a real person. Endless loops of frustration.

That looks like the room where I watch TV, except for the face.

It will be subtle, pervasive, well-scored, accompanied by beautiful graphics, persuasive voices and a variety of unsuspected infatuations. You’ll love it even while you have that vague feeling that something isn’t quite right. Just relax.
