Apparently Elly forgot the old saying…“he who defends himself in court has a fool for a defense attorney”. ;/

Oh, this’ll go well. That’s like thinking you can hit a major league curveball because you’ve watched “Bull Durham.”

Or thinking that you can just sign-in, walk up and win all the PBA Championships because you are decent at Wii Bowling.

Wait, was it or was it not her fault? She got ticketed, so doesn’t that make it her fault?

I don’t remember if it was technically her fault. Getting a ticket from a cop who probably wasn’t even at the scene when the accident occurred does not mean you’re at fault – unless you go to court and argue successfully for your side. The cop can try to determine whose fault it was, but if she goes to court, that ruling stands as the final word.

Do they get ‘Judge Judy’ in Canada ?? Hasn’t ‘Elly’ heard the adage about a person defending themselves in court—that ‘they have a fool for a client’ ?? Up until now, have never thought of ‘Elly’ as a fool—misguided sometimes but never a fool ! ! ! !

Why would she get a ticket? Maybe things are different in Canada.

It’s probably updated from “Judge Wapner”.

Wait a minute. I thought this comic was set in the 1980s. “Judge Judy” didn’t premiere until 1996!

Aside from the desires of comedy, I suspect that as a dentist in private practice, they have a lawyer.

There has been a great deal of discussion here about whether or not Elly is at fault in this accident. I guess we’ll see what the judge has to say about that.

They are down $60 thanks to Farley. After this it sounds like soon enough John and Elly will be back in court…bankruptcy court!

We went to court long time ago, (maybe 30+ years), when we had to evict someone. We didn’t have a lawyer, either. The judge asked us all the questions, but before that, he explained that we should answer only what is asked and no more. The judgement was in our favor.

Ha! This sounds like so many people I know. I’m sure you can get some good tips but the real thing is entirely different. Hope she does some reading up on the laws prior to court!

Guess this settles whose fault it was. Elly was cited. She wasn’t paying attention, was daydreaming. How will she defend herself? She will say, " It’s the hippie’s fault. He was probably high on weed and not paying attention to the bus which he wasn’t supposed to pass. I didn’t see him till he came out from behind the bus and it was too late to stop. I was not high. I am older and responsible. I am a mother and have a job. This hippie probably doesn’t have a job and he’s young. You know how it is with young people today." She will make it all about the other driver being a hippie and young versus her as a responsible citizen.
