Some women are like this in the kitchen. My mother was a bit like this. She tended to go into attack mode when faced with something a bit out of the ordinary. :)

Who holds a hot pot while you mash potatoes? I never had somebody hold the pot for me.

In the 29 years of this comic, I think mashed potatoes was Lynn Johnston’s favorite food item to experience redirected anger from Elly Patterson. You never saw Elly this angry with carrots, peas or Brussels sprouts.

One up for Michael!!!! Dr. Freud would have loved him!

I make fudge for Christmas and have to stir it. The pot turns. So I put one of the carpet non skid things under it, the ones with the holes.

I never really got Michael calling Elly “ma” all the time. I never once heard someone call their mother that. Lynn’s obviously basing it off of something, though.
