At least she isn’t wearing a miniskirt. I remember in Jr. High and High School many girls wearing mini’s wanting to look cool in really bad winter weather. The girls may have thought that they looked cool, but they were instead looking frozen.

I remember constantly losing gloves/mittens in elementary school. For some reason I hate them. Even when Mama tied a cord to them and it went through my sleeves and across my back. Yep. Lost ’em. Same with watches, til she bought me a pendant one :)

When I used to ride the bus to work in winter in Minnesota, I would see teenagers, both boys and girls, waiting for the bus in light jackets worn open, no hats, no gloves, no scarves and not infrequently, wet hair. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

I would have liked Elly to ask “Was that fashion sense worth freezing like that? Yes or No?”

If Elizabeth said to the former, then she should be forced to explain why and hopefully realize how stupid she is being.

This reminds me of an exchange between my husband and me. We were getting ready to drive home from a week’s vacation and the only clean clothes he had left were blue shorts and a green shirt. I told him to go ahead and wear them because he’d just be in the car and no one would see him. He joked about what would happen if we crashed and died on the way home, quoting an imaginary newspaper story: “A man’s body was found in the desert. He was wearing blue shorts and a green shirt. He was obviously insane.”

Drive past a school bus stop some cold morning and look closely at the kids. Some will be bundled up like Eskimos (yeah, I know, but I use the term anyway), others will be wearing jackets and hats, almost never see gloves where I live, and then there will be the group wearing long sleeves but no jackets, some even in shorts. That group I always wonder about.

A lot of us forget what it was like to be a teenager when it’s more important to look cool then keep warm.

I have seen so many people chose “cool” over comfortable. I get the mind set, but I’m not cool enough to be cold.

My dad was an engineer at a frozen food warehouse and could get very warm clothes cheap (storage rooms were around -30F), but they were “work clothes,” olive green. My daughters refused to wear “those UGLY jackets” and spent over $200, each, for Columbia jackets.

It’s more about how teens won’t wear winter clothes because they aren’t fashionable you know she owns a coat ECT of her own and chose not to wear them
