Laudato Si’ (2015), an encyclical of Pope Francis focused on care for the natural environment and all people.
Laudate Deum (2023), a document of Pope Francis saying that the world is “nearing the breaking point,” condemning climate denial, and highlighting the urgent need for a more sustained response to the ecological crisis.
Just watched the movie, “Conclave” yesterday, a backdoor view into feminine, liberation theology. It would have behooved Francis to heed this area as much as he has done ecological liberation theology. The disparity is a bit scandalous.
Contrary to popular belief, an ostrich will not bury its head in the sand. The only creatures capable of doing that are the people who voted in the current administration.
Constitutionally, I don’t think a president can unilaterally withdraw the country from a treaty. Treaties ratified by the Senate become “the supreme law of the land,” and presidents have no power to cancel laws once they are enacted (Congress can repeal laws, but the president can’t). But, as we know, Trump will do everything he can get away with, and so far, he’s gotten away with a stunning amount of mischief.
