I remember my former employer was big into lean manufacturing and they even had a lean manager (I can’t remember the “official” title). I swear the person would go around looking what could be “improved” and never took any input from the employees working then came up with crazy ideas to make it more “lean”. Needless that say it didn’t work, they ended up getting rid of that position and finally got smart by taking input from the employees. However, by then the plant closed.
He obviously learned a lot watching Frank. Of course, he also learned that trying to improve Frank’s work habits was beyond sensible, hence the fixed stare and hangdog posture.
Consultant: somebody from out of town who will come in to your workplace, spend two weeks asking your employees questions, hand you their answers in neat bullet-point form, and charge you a hundred grand for their “expertise”.
He looks like he’s pretty good at it. He is balding, which shows he does a lot of thinking. He has a bit of a paunch, which means he makes enough money to afford rich food. If he has hæmorrhoids then we know he is not a perfect a$$hole.
