Mrs. Olsen is far more patient than I am. I would say, “Stop being a smart-a** and do the problem.”

Who knows? Amazon shows different prices to everyone. Heck, it shows different prices sometimes if you refresh the page.

I take it all the socks talk has nothing to do with either a former POTUS’s long departed feline or one of a pair of baseball teams…

I’ll happily admit, just 24 hours after writing a Frogg about how I avoid sales (which, if it implied that I avoid shopping, did so falsely), that I like gear. Or, if you prefer to pronounce it that way, “toys.” I even like gear I don’t own. It’s just interesting. So much stuff that’s supposed to make you perform better, or else be more comfortable performing the same old way. So many creative and appealing approaches. So appealingly presented and marketed. And the thing is, a lot of it really works. That’s why guys like me get so happy around it.

The running industry puts out a lot of gear. Shoot, just the footwear division. Boy, the research, development and marketing that goes into shoes. It’s a ton, and while there’s no doubt there have been some bad companies, and some bad products put out by even the best companies, running shoes are simply awesome pieces of engineering. And yet, if you were to ask me the single product technology to make the most people the most happy and comfortable and effective and consistent and dedicated to running, I would say sock technology. And I suspect anyone who ran when I started running, which is to say in cotton socks, would be inclined to consider I might have a point. And we might still have matching scars from our 1970- and 80s-vintage blisters.

Oh, now I see it. Though it was used by him in his writing, not on his Facebook site. Easy to miss that.

“Two pair” is poker; it’s “two pairs” if we’re talking about socks.
