How old does Caulfield think a guy needs to be to be a grandpa?

It’s not ALL that hard to imagine. Gramps has a son at 18, which makes him 36 when the son, also age 18, has a grandson (Frazz), who’s now about 25ish. That’s only 61.

Frazz has got to be older than 25. The strip debuted in 2001.

I used to cat sit for a dear lady in her eighties who traveled to compete in senior tennis tournaments!

Used car salesman sold a car that belonged to a little old lady who only drove it on Sunday. That was the only day they had drag races.

I wonder why windsurfing is a prerequisite to kiteboarding…. while somewhat similar…. it seems to me that both are different enough that either could be learned interdependently without concern.

It would be interesting if we were to see Frazz’s grandfather.

A lot of folks were suggesting Frazz is 25 or so. For me, I had always envisioned him as being 30-35.

I’ve watched the windsurfing classes near Hood River Oregon where there’s almost always a good breeze or more. Every age from about 9 on up. Some folks get up and going on their first or second try. Some get it after some help. Some are still struggling when the times up. Most of the adult adults seem to get it right quickly (as do most of the younger kids); the middle aged ones, not so much.

And yeah, to a grade-school kid, 25 is old (unless you’re Frazz, I guess).

I learned from my hang-gliding and windsurfing* jags that if you’re going to get serious about weather-dependent sports, the rest of your life has to be under control to an astonishing extent, or you have to be a little bit of a flake. When the surf’s up, when the wind is honking from the right direction, you drop everything and get out there RIGHT NOW and pick up the pieces when you get home.

Have you ever watched good kiteboarders? Holy mocha, that looks fun. And totally beyond my reach, let alone grasp. I barely seem to have time for sports you can do no matter what the conditions, and I know I’ve pushed it pretty close to the flake limit.

    Maybe I’ll give it a whack when I’m grandpa-age.

Hang gliding looks SO very fun…. but for klutz like me, the risks of a mistake are too high (same for a motorcycle for me).
