The Stooges – Punk rock band led by Iggy Pop. Also known as the Psychedelic Stooges.

In florida, if you try to read a book about Glam Rock, you’ll find banned band books.

I’ll tell you what, from what I’ve heard there are a bunch of kids’ books that have won awards that SHOULD be banned. They used to ask, “Do you know where your children are?” Now it’s, “Do you KNOW what your children are reading? Including their homework and suggested reading books?” And then there’s all the junk on all the TV with cable and satellite services, and their phones with the internet…

There’s probably a new Beatle book published every week, so you could make a career out of that alone.

It’s interesting, though, that Caulfield’s choices all seem to align his tastes with a middle-aged white guy’s. Why not something about Sly and the Family Stone? Or the Supremes? Or the Runaways? Or Public Enemy? Or the Fugees? Or…

(Not that middle-aged white guys wouldn’t read any of those, of course.)

There’s a book about Iggy and the Stooges? I need to find that. I’m currently reading Bon: The Last Highway, it’s excellent.

When I first saw “The Stooges” I thought of the “Three Stooges”. I had to look up to find out that they were a band.

Caulfield’s jokes are like the hammer-on-the-knee test. He triggers reflex action from people too embedded in their bigotry to see clearly.

Are there really books about all the bands discussed?

I read through to this from the beginning. It took me actually several months but I couldn’t help myself from composing the occasional comment and research on the one or other factoid that sprung up from the strip or other’s comments.
