I wonder if Frazz, the songwriter, ever contemplated composing a nice song to give to Miss Plainwell at Xmastime. I guess we’ll never know, because this strip hardly ever mentions the music that he’s supposed to be such a whiz at.
I’m what is referred to as a senior. I agree with Frazz’s second frame comment. The gadgets and tools I need I got. What I may need is very specific and I spend a fair amount of time researching.
Been there with friends and it is hard to know which gizmos they have already bought. This last one also fits collectors of anything. Any thing they do not already have is usually too expensive.
lots of gifts are not used but still you can’t give away for fear of offending someone, so you end up storing them forever. Years before the shortages I told family just give me toilette paper because one size fits all and I will surely use it and will think of them evetime I doo.
Hiker / Trekker socks with all kinds of scenes (must be Merino wool however). All kinds of great scenes from the AT, PCT, CDT etc. And of course National Parks.
We told our children and grandchildren to pick their favorite charity and make a donation in our name as a gift – we’re retired and don’t need a bunch of “stuff” just to get “stuff”… We have four grandchildren in college now and three more soon to be – they suggested a college fund which we thought was outstanding – so we donate to it – a win-win scenario.

For what’s supposed to be “the happiest time of the year”, gift-giving sure seems to cause a lot of stress and resentment.

It’s a very good storyline this week and it reminds me of what really is important and what is not. That’s a gift with giving, thank you.
