As the hooman mom of a couple of huskies, I am going with the concept of ascension. These two girls don’t wear (or need) sweaters – their royal attitudes keep them warm enough.
Saw a cute post on FB. It shows two pictures. The top one has a wolf walking in deep snow with a caption saying: “I wonder if I can get some food if I get closer to that campfire, what’s the worse that can happen”. The second picture is captioned 10000 years later and shows two dogs wearing really goofy looking winter garb.
A long time ago we lived in Cleveland, OH. We had sheep dogs and we had to put boots on them. When it snowed they would get snow stuck between their toes, sheep dogs have hair everywhere, and couldn’t walk when that happened.
Gray wolf looking at a pug … Oh dear, what happened? A man hangs out by the mall with a gray wolf and he is noticeably bigger is the first thing you see.

Should he howl?

The difference between men and dogs, men would not be caught dead wearing certain things.

Great book about the interaction of early humans and wolves, leading to their domestication and eventually dogs: “Once a Wolf” by Bryan Sykes.

Nice turn around, Mrs. Olsen. Wonder if you have mentioned the dog’s name anywhere? Or Miss Plainwell’s pup?

Yes, Caulfield, he thinks about it all the time. Sheesh.

I’m betting that dog doesn’t know or care about his ancestors. I’ve only seen dogs care mostly about three things:
When do I eat?
Who’s going to pet me next?
Who’s going to throw my ball?
Honorable mentions:
Who wants to play tug of war?
When’s our next walk?
I’m not getting in that tub!

“Maybe he figures he ascended from them.”
Well, which end does he scent when they meet?

As nearly as I can tell, wolves don’t eat crunchy stuff from a bag.

“Once we were wolves, wild and wary. Then we noticed you had sofas.”

Have we humans descended or ascended from our ancestors?

Wolves probably don’t appreciate salt between their toes
